What patients say on Google
“This place is awful. From security to psych - rotten to thier core. It's not only desensitization. It's cruelty. The staff visibly enjoy contributing to your misery and suffering. That has been my experience for at least 5 visits here. They sure don't mind you leaving at all. No matter what state of mind your in. Safe or not. No matter to them. Your just an insurance payment to them. A quota to fill. One that's not even enough to matter. Annoyance, impatience, cruelty, indifference, dehumanization, humiliation, indignity, outwardly mocked. Met with snide, crude and rude intolerance. I felt belittledand and felt eagerly discarded without care or concern for my wellbeing. These are the most accurate words that aptly describe the treatment I've consistently received from the staff - top to bottom - every time I've interacted with Hall - Mercer. IF any of them believe in God, I hope he heals them and that they try to correct themselves and they way they treat those that come to them for help. We need more angels in training. Not demons in the making. ✅️”
“If you or a loved one need care I’m begging you to take them anywhere else. I’d give less than 1 star if I could. I have a long history of suicidality due to BPD, PTSD, and OCD. I’ve had my fair share of mental health experiences and been to several urgent cares and crisis centers, and this is by far the most dehumanizing and belittling experience I’ve ever had. I was stuck in the waiting room for over 14 hours and they would not allow me to discharge myself or get in touch with anyone. I was yelled at and demeaned for crying despite the stress of the situation. The staff straight up ignored me when I tried to ask questions on several occasions. The staff also laughed and talked badly of patients directly in front of them. A patient next to me asked a tech what the paperwork he was about to sign was for and the tech repeatedly refused to tell him and told him to “just sign it”. I begged in tears to speak to a higher up throughout those 14 hours and to be told my rights as a patient because I felt mistreated and was denied repeatedly. There is a complete lack of empathy, compassion, and care in nearly every staff member in this unit. I don’t know how it’s even still open.”
“Don’t call here. Amy will just hang up on you and not help you. I hope someone sees this and actually does something about her attitude. She is ignorant as soon as she picked up the phone. If you don’t like your job then quit!”
“I was brought in last night after bringing myself to the emergency room for suicidal thoughts. Unfortunately my experience is very similar to most of the reviews, there is one waiting area(12x8maybe) with 10-15 chairs. I immediately became more uncomfortable having to sit in between two men, I have trauma related to men. Two hours passed before I spoke to a nurse, after another hour of nothing I asked for my belongings and to go home. 30 minutes later I met with a physician, told him I wanted to leave, he had to “discus with the team” I was in need of help and did not receive it, I, in fact felt worse the longer I was there. I felt unsafe in the waiting area asked if I could wait anywhere else and was told “no” I’m honestly shocked this is how Penn Medicine would let a crisis center run, you should be ashamed of yourselves that this is the circumstances you put people seeking help in.”
