What patients say on Google

“I spent four months during 2025 in the PHP program and it was a life changing experience. The therapists there each bring something different to the group each day and they clearly care about each and every patient. As one of the therapists frequently says..."The program works if you work it." It really takes full commitment and effort, but it truly works! Go in with an open heart, open mind and be ready to share and grow. I left with a toolkit that I use in my daily life and will use for the rest of my life. There is no one size fits all solution so be open to trying new skills and new experiences. #trusttheprocess”

“I was in PHP for a few months at the beginning of this year for continuous feelings of existential dread and depression. I had a decent experience. However, at the beginning it was very unclear how the program worked as it was never clearly explained during intake. I wound up feeling even more triggered by the strict rules as I was working full time on top of attending. I wound up more stressed than when I went in. I found that most of the therapists there had no knowledge of somatic or trauma therapy. There was little to no focus on trauma processing, CPTSD or emotional regulation. This program is heavily focused on substance use and CBT. Which historically CBT does not work for PTSD. I would recommend it for those seeking very traditional therapy. Do not go if you’re looking for something deeper.”

“I can’t speak highly enough of Pamela Van Der Laan. From the very first session, I felt truly heard and supported. She creates a safe, welcoming space where it’s okay to be vulnerable, and her insight and compassion have helped me grow in ways I didn’t think were possible.”

“Pennsylvania behavioral health center helped me get my life back. I came into their PHP program lost, and from day one the staff made me feel welcomed and helped me on my journey. Patti, Lynnette, and Moriah are masters at their craft. My individual therapist Pamela Van der Laan helped me break through past traumas and experiences, truly helping me advance through my mental health struggles with her vast knowledge of coping mechanisms, individual therapy, and ACT and CBT. I cannot thank the staff enough for helping me get me back in my feet.”
