What patients say on Google
“DO NOT allow any family member to go here. My daughter was admitted and in one week she only saw a psych doctor ONCE for five to ten minutes. She told him she was restless (because she is so bored) and he gave her a blood pressure med. They do not care about the patients. We are trying to have her transferred to The Meadows in State College, but they don't want to lose the money grab, so they are refusing to cooperate. Also, my daughter had a bipolar episode and became belligerent and physical toward a couple nurses. You would think this is a common occurrence at a psych unit, but one of the nurses pressed criminal charges against her. She doesn't even remember the incident, since she had a psychotic blackout. Because of this, she lost her job and is paying lawyer fees. Had she gone to a competent psych unit, she would have received the help she needed and would not have had all the additional stress put on her life!! stay away from this place!!”
“I never had problems with behavioral health and they are very professional and they are very kind to me. No problems. They do work with me. I did read the comments and ratings and I never seen that with them. Maybe it was different and they just thought it but I never had any bad experience with them. My son and I are patients there and been going there for about 1 years now.”
“I was getting therapy here for 2 years and had two different therapists. They were both fantastic, but after they left, the center told me they could not find me a replacement or fit me in, so I was left with no help. I'm sure if Penn Highlands treated their staff better, I wouldn't have had two separate therapists in the first place.”
“Note: Apparently phone hours are 9 am- close. I had to start going to these offices after my regular doctor left. They only have maybe 1-2 doctors on staff but only count on one. They don't seem to be able to keep the people they do have either. I live in St. Mary's so we don't have choices here. I will say the doctor they have managed to keep is very nice and the others I get to see are pretty nice... front desk could use some work but I haven't found a place in the pennhighlands network that has had friendly desk staff yet.”
