“I had my first session with Dr. Powell today, it was absolutely amazing! The comfort and relief I got was beyond words, and I'm really looking forward to more sessions with her. The lady at the front desk was also incredible! Her customer service was top-notch. Both Dr. Powell and the lady at the desk are without a doubt the best. There's no debate about that.!! UPDATE: 7/22/26 I have been seeing Dr Powell for around 3 months now. I can’t express enough how special her and her staff are!! I came into Dr. Powells office feeling hopeless and a literal basket case. Dr Powell has become my safe place where I feel heard, recognized and cared about. This is the first time in life I have ever felt this way as I have been to therapist and psychologist most of my early years. If God didn’t lead me to Dr. Powell I am afraid that I wouldn’t be here this day to write this review but as I see God had different plans for me and I am super blessed to have Dr. Powell in my life. Also, Dr. Powell has taken my sessions slowly and waited for me to decide when and what the next move should be. She has included me in my life plans and has been extremely patient and caring about my treatment plan. Once we decided that it was time for me to take medication, she did a DNA test for medication(which no Dr ever has annd it only made me feel worse) and a few came back that my genetics would approve of. At that time the Dr analyzed the medications accordingly to my lifestyle and needs. I have only been on the medications for a couple of months, now I am able to live a decent life where I am able to go outside and meet people!! Before this I was in severe depression and staying in my bedroom for a good year. I can not thank Dr Powell and Ms. Monica enough for putting life back into me!! Just to let whoever is reading this know what my condition is well it is “Dual BPD and BD” mixed with many anxiety issues. She literally saved my life and now I am starting to see my partner at home in a different, positive light as my partner deserves. I can’t express my gratitude enough and I understand how one or two people feel differently by reading the reviews but please remember that we have all had a rough life and the Dr is top notch unparalleled second to none. To the couple of people who felt some type of way about the Dr. I ask you to please reevaluate how you feel and give the doctor the 5 stars she so deserves. I love everyone who reads this and will keep you in my prayers, please do the same for me. Thanks for taking your time to read this and if you need a little light in your life then the Dr has enough to light up the world. It only takes a little water for us to grow. The Bible says “ a candle doesn’t lose any light, lighting another candle” I truly understand what that means after meeting Dr Powell and Ms. Monica.”
“My experience with Dr. Powell was simply unmatched. She was warm, welcoming and super informative. There was not one moment where I felt even slightly uncomfortable, and I was more than inclined to share with her my experience and what I needed help with without feeling as though I needed to diminish my situation which I feel like is extremely important in a medical setting. If you need any of the services she offers I encourage you to trust that she will do the best she can for you!”
“Dr. Powell is without a doubt one of the best. Her dedication to making me feel heard, recollection of previous conversations and the help she provides is outstanding. I never leave our sessions without insight and direction on how to make things better for myself.”
“** A brief additional response for the purpose of verifying the veracity of my concerns as articulated below - I have documentation clearly showing all statements made below to be based in fact. Again, my intent is not to be accusatory but to encourage responsible medical practice as it is the patients who bare the burden of avoidable negative outcomes when our concerns are not taken seriously during the course of a provider/patient relationship. I raised all of these concerns during my care. To reiterate, I simply hope this doesn’t happen to someone else as medicine should be a safe space. DO NOT be a patient with this practice. I was a patient for 4 months after moving to Charlotte and not once was my medication properly or correctly prescribed - mind you, this was the same singular Rx I had in my chart consistently for multiple years prior that they received from said prior provider(s) and so should have presented no issue. First month = incorrect medication prescribed as confirmed (with documentation provided to the provider) by the pharmacist that I had explicitly articulated was a concern during the first appointment and sent multiple clarifying emails with the correct information to them so that never should have happened as I went out of my way to make it easy. 2nd round of Rx didn't even have a refill available or the ability to ensure that the Rx was correct and my 2nd appointment wasn't billed correctly to my insurance so received a bill for the appointment when I never should have. Had to go out of my way to make sure the Rx was sent to the pharmacy when that should not be the patient's job. Front desk receptionist said she would address billing and never did/I had to email multiple times again and leave VMs requesting to speak with the provider directly to no avail. 3rd round had the IMPROPER AMOUNT prescribed and yet another failure to bill to my insurance, leading to my having to pay $200 out of pocket for the remainder of the Rx needed since my insurance wouldn't cover the offset (which is billing/prescribing 101) and the receptionist also refused to allow me to speak with the provider then despite my practically begging at that point over email and VM for her to facilitate that. Most disturbing about all of this is that I should never have been forced to communicate with the office receptionist regarding these prescription corrections when that should never be something allocated to anyone other than a licensed provider, as is questionable at this practice given on multiple occasions I was having to explain the medication corrections to the receptionist as though she was sending them in. I am not making any allegations here but pointing out that is how it appears outwardly and is something this practice should be aware of and correct immediately moving forward. Extremely disappointing and upsetting experience. RESPONSE to co.: To not have found a good fit would be dissatsifaction. To have had to consistently advocate for basic levels of competent medical care only to be met with non-response and an apparent non-interest in improvement or ensuring that I did not experience not only avoidable stress but significant financial loss that should never have occurred is far more than dissatisfaction. Please treat your patients better and provide COMPETENT, quality care to ALL your patients moving forward. I am fortunate the constant gaps in receipt of my medication did not result in significant health impacts; this is not true of everyone and if this is what I experienced, there is no doubt others are being put at risk for serious harm, as well. This review has been left with the intent of serving your entire patient population as your mistakes could have resulted in far greater harm under different factual circumstances than my own and are patently unacceptable. Do better.”
