What patients say on Google

“I recently discharged from Pasadena, and the experience has changed everything for me! I was in PHP (6-hours) for 6 weeks and IOP (3-hour) for about 3 weeks. My first day, I met with the wonderful Office Coordinator, Yolanda. She walked me through all the paperwork, gave me a tour, and encouraged me to be open to what the program has to offer. Sonya, the Executive Director, introduced herself and welcomed me kindly as well! I walked in the middle of morning check-in, which came to be one of my favorite parts of the day, and everyone kindly greeted me as I found a place to sit. Check-in is in one of the group rooms and we go around and we share things like how we feel, what we did last night or that morning, etc. One of the 4 therapists will guide check-in each day and provide understanding, empathy, validation, feedback if you’re open to it, and any support you might need during the day. On your first day, they don’t make you talk if you aren’t ready, so don’t stress about that! After each class, you get a 10-min break, where you can go outside the clinic to your locker and use your phone, go to the bathroom, walk outside, or go to the kitchen for a snack. There is a fridge stocked with drinks as well. If you’re in PHP, at 12pm, lunch will be served and you’ll sit together, fill out mid-day check-in for 1st 30 min of lunch. 2nd 30 min is up to you. Some people walk outside, sit in their car, chill in a therapy room, etc. I liked going to the art room and painting—you have free range to use the supplies if you clean up after yourself! We have classes like Expressive Arts, Music Therapy, and Mindful Movement (Yoga, stretching, meditation, etc.). One of the Therapists, Lauren, does sound bath on Friday mornings, it’s so relaxing! FYI, IOP will leave for the day at 12pm, before lunch. As for the therapists, I love every single one of them. They are all different and special in their own ways. There are 3 females and one male. Jordan, the male therapist, is so kind, caring, silly, and knowledgeable. He loves to teach and is amazing at it, he helped make me feel safer around men again! Lauren, my individual therapist as well, is funny, empathetic, kind, and helps reframe your thought processes to be more realistic and healthier. Amy is also funny, kind, empathetic, and listens to your struggles while offering useful suggestions. Donya is a fashionista, funny, kind, empathetic, and loves to try out concepts that are perfect for visual learners. She is well versed in polyvagal therapy— just try and you’ll see it feels good! Last part of the team would be the Nurse Practitioner overseeing Medication Management, Yvonne. She is gentle, kind, empathetic, and really strives to understand you and how medication affects you. She only meets with PHP people once a week, usually on Wednesdays! Hopefully that is enough info to help you feel like you have a better understanding of what to expect at Pasadena. I have a whole binder full of useful information I can refer to. When we have classes, we usually get a guide that we will read together to learn the concepts and then practice them. *IMPORTANT!!** Just know, nothing is ever forced at Pasadena. You will always be encouraged to participate and at least try something, but it is as a suggestion, not as a demand. They are extremely understanding that everyone is in a different place in their journey and that we are all at different capacities/levels of progress. One big thing we always say is, “Progress Not Perfection.” There is a lot of choice in this program and environment. You get out of it what you put in. You must want to get better and use the tools outside of the program for things to eventually stick. Anyone can experience a rough patch while improving, so don’t doubt yourself or give up if you feel low some days, therapy is hard work! I loved my experience at Pasadena so much and the people I was there with mean so much to me. You truly will never forget the people and friends you meet there. 100/10 recommend.”

“This place was very harmful to my well-being. I am still not in a position to share all the details, but I hope one day to expand on my experience in the future. For anyone considering going here, please be cautious, and trust your instincts. If it feels wrong, it's worth paying attention to. And to anyone who has been here and struggled, I hope you know you are not the problem even though some of the people at Pasadena might want to make you feel that you are.”

“1000000% recommend. The staff is amazing and so kind, smart, talented and encouraging. I learned how to change the way I think, see my struggles for what they are and grow through them, and find more of my true self. Would recommend this to every person I know. If you’re looking for a sign of somewhere to go, go here, you won’t regret it”

“This review is long, and painful. But I hope it helps protect you if you are considering coming here. I came here a year ago, and have been seeing my regular therapist ever since as I struggle to overcome what I endured at this awful place. The therapist I was assigned was Amy. I would say that is unfortunate, but I would come to learn that Jordan is far worse. Amy is, by all standards, a very lazy therapist. For example, I was very suicidal and confided this in her, that I was self harming and was in a very dangerous place. She, word for word, told me, "Well I can't let you leave until you feel better. And I can't go home until you're gone." So she just sat in her office and stared at me. I got the hint. I sarcastically said, "Well, I guess I'm magically not suicidal anymore." And she said "Perfect. See you tomorrow." But Amy's neglect is nothing compared to the beast that is the other therapist, Jordan. Jordan maintained multiple inappropriate relationships with clients outside treatment hours on his personal cell phone, and would even admit to texting them privately during class. One example of this is when one of the clients texted Jordan telling him that their mother had passed and Jordan came to meet with them before treatment hours. He had multiple favorites whom he would treat differently whether or not they were his patients, where he would insist that they be treated differently than other patients, for example he would confront some group members and tell them that it was inappropriate to discuss s. assault in front of them. However, when I, another s. assault victim, said that I was uncomfortable because a group member was pressuring me to talk about my assault, he told me I was overreacting and that it wasn't his concern. One thing you should know is that Pasadena Villa encourages you to become triggered, so you will learn how to deal with it. Unfortunately, once they trigger you, they abandon you to cry and self harm in the bathroom on your own because your reaction to their behavior is not their responsibility. This is not an exaggeration. They have a class schedule to maintain, and will not deviate it just to worry about one lost sheep. I am not comfortable posting what Jordan did to me specifically in a Google review. I hope the above is enough for you to know he cannot be trusted. He is a man of power, ability, authority, and learning, and he misused it all for his own personal agenda. I hope he loses his job. He deserves worse. As if my experience was not bad enough, they assigned an incorrect diagnosis to me that my mental health professionals that I have been seeing for over four years, with over 45 years of experience, cannot even fathom how they came to that conclusion. Except, of course, negligence, condescendition, and incompetence. This is absolutely unacceptable for anyone who claims to want to help people. I hope the people at Pasadena Villa in Franklin evaluate themselves seriously because they are doing more harm than good. For a year I was too terrified to speak about my experiences, and I have no doubt there are many more like me in the reviews left unwritten. This is furthered by the fact that when I was released, I was sat down in a room where they had me scan the QR code to their Google page, and I was heavily encouraged and watched to leave a very positive, glowing review (under my real name). Know that when you read those below me, they were pressured into it, like I was.”
