Optum Multi-Specialty Center - Carmel/Brewster

“Our doctor of a decade, her RN, Endo M.D. Murari, our cardio & most at Optum in NY are fabulous. We WERE Caremount Medical & locally owned/operated. Now Optum has screwed the pooch & we cannot call our docs, hit 0, reach a human, or be transferred to our Docs' teams any longer. Called Optum HQ in MN, was transfered to NY Patient Advocacy & some chick-let hung up because I asked for a supervisor. Called back to Health CEO Krista Nelson & got the fab Chris. Finally conveyed to him -- my Hubs & I hope -- that this is not a local, Carmel, or a NY problem, and Patient advocacy issue. It's a systemic, stop hiding from us, fire fragile millenials & all --like we did at our NYC Co. -- and let us talk to humans by phone like the big, cool kids. We Boomers & Gen Xers are Optums main play: still have health care, can pay co-pays, go to doc because...older and we like other humans. Optum Health is one of many corps that lets staff "hide" from its clients, treat us like were the nuisance & generally act like they were raised by wolves, as customer care staff. If an Optum person who we finally reach by phone is clerical vs. clinical (medical) they need to pass us to an RN or clinical triage team. Customer svc. at Optum & most corps in U.S. now farm it out...abd we libe on a farm. We are channeled offshore, to lovely clerical folks, who cannot transfer us, do not have the ear of their HQ -- like Ms. Nelson at Optum -- and cannot message our docs directly. Anyone over 50 gets it that we do NOT want to waste our oxygen on trying to get direct health care by jumping theough corp hoops designed to misdirect us. FU Optum, as my Army, College football Daddy would say. Do the right thing by your human patients, who are paying clients and NEED care.”

“My wife and I had a scheduled ultrasound appointment at Optum Radiology, and I was extremely disappointed by how we were treated. I was not permitted to accompany my wife into the ultrasound area, despite being her husband and wanting to support her during a medical appointment. I understand that facilities may have policies involving privacy, space, safety, or clinical workflow—but no one gave us a clear, respectful explanation or showed any understanding of how important it can be for a spouse to be present. The way this was handled felt cold, dismissive, and unnecessarily rigid. Patients should be treated like people, not inconveniences. Optum needs to improve how it communicates visitor policies and train staff to handle these situations with more compassion and professionalism. We left feeling frustrated and unsupported.”

“Optum is excellent. Most of the specialties are all in that building so you can see a doctor and a specialist all on the same day and maybe even get an x-ray. The new insurance regulations are a little bit tough to get through but just stay persistent”
