What patients say on Google

“This place has totally went downhill. I started going years ago and had an amazing doctor who helped me get my mental health back on track. I’m happy I had her when I did because after she left, I couldn’t seem to find anyone who cared. The front desk ladies are terrible in person and over the phone. The med doctors will just switch around meds over and over without even listening to you. I now owe them money for my last 2 appointments and I’m having trouble paying it, not because I can’t afford it, but I am just wondering what they even did for me. By the end, I just felt like a guinea pig getting a different medicine every month to “see if it will work.” Like I said , my first year there I only had to try 2 medicines before I could get my life back on track. There’s no reason I should go somewhere to feel like a test rat.”

“Dr Michelle Shippert DO is my primary care doctor. She is in the Oasis System. I have never had trouble with getting prescriptions refilled, even by just requesting them on the patient portal. I’ve never had the staff being rude to me. I don’t know what all these other people have said in the reviews. But the thing that they have in common is that they’re all dealing with mental illness issues. So perhaps what they are emotionally dealing with skews their opinions. I personally have not dealt with the counseling part of the program. But I will say that Dr Shepherd is the best doctor I’ve been to in years. She is very thorough. She listens very carefully and I would recommend her highly to anyone looking for a really good primary physician.”

“My son had amazing drs in the past that really made him feel listened too and his experience was pretty good but getting anyone to answer a phone call is like pulling teeth. Been trying to reach someone there about something very important for the past week and half almost 2 weeks but can't get through or a call back”

“In this review, I am going to use initials instead of names. About two months ago I requested a letter of academic accommodations for a relative of mine. I was informed that it would take two weeks to write it. Then, this past Friday, I went to pick up the letter and was informed that it was not done because I didn’t pay the $25 fee. I didn’t know I had to pay it in advance, but I paid it immediately. On Monday I went to pick up the letter, but it was not done again. As I was trying to find out the time to pick it up, the office manager, EC, came out and asked me to go to her office. She immediately got upset and told me that I was making a scene and delaying other customers from signing in. She said that I didn’t pay for the letter, which was not true. Then, she accused me of being unfriendly and even threatened to cut services for my relative. She also made fun of my position at the university. Then, she said she had to meet with a customer, and I had to go. As I was leaving, I asked her for her business card, and she refunded it. I also asked her to write her name in a piece of paper, and she said no. Frankly, I didn’t get upset, but as she was talking to me in such an abusive way, I was imagining that she would probably do the same thing to some of her customers by criticizing them, making them feel bad, and teasing them. Unfortunately, we have a good number of residents in Centre County that suffer from mental health. They are wonderful people and should not be treated offensively when they go for therapy. Perhaps this lady needs to take a break and learn how to treat patients and their families with respect.”
