How likely are you to recommend New York Psychotherapy and Counseling Center?
What patients say on Google
“Gibs has been my therapist at this location for 6 and 1/2 months and I have to say that the warmth that I have felt in the positive energy and feedback that radiates from this employee is something extremely remarkable. He doesn't just listen he truly cares as someone that has gone through multiple therapists feeling like I wasn't being understood or heard I found a safe haven when I met Gibs. He is extremely attentive, very caring, and truly enjoys his job and makes sure that he always leaves you feeling better than before you had your session. I highly recommend anyone who is struggling with depression, trauma, PTSD or any form of anxiety to not hesitate to call the center and book a session trust me you will not regret it.”
“This place is extremely unprofessional and misleading. When I initially applied to NYCC Psychotherapy Center, I was explicitly told I could choose between therapy, medication management, or both. There was no mention whatsoever that therapy would be required in order to receive psychiatric care. After deciding therapy was not a good fit for me, I was suddenly told I’m “not eligible” for medication-only appointments — with zero clear explanation. No clinical reasoning, no transparency, nothing. Just a vague denial. It honestly feels like the rules are being made up as they go. Either staff are not properly trained on their own policies, or patients are being misled during intake just to get them in the door. Instead of addressing the inconsistency, I was brushed off and told they could “help me find another agency,” which is not a solution — it’s avoidance. Patients should not have to chase down basic clarity or be forced into services they don’t want just to access care they were told was available. This experience felt dismissive, disorganized, and completely lacking in accountability. I would strongly recommend asking very detailed questions upfront, because what you’re told initially may not reflect how they actually operate.”
“I am deeply disappointed with the way this psychotherapy center handled my care. After my original therapist left, I was assigned to someone who wasn’t a good fit. When I asked to be evaluated for a different therapist, I was told there was no availability and was instead given referrals to other providers. Being turned away like that made me feel dismissed and abandoned. If someone were in a severe mental health crisis or experiencing suicidal thoughts, being told there’s no room could have serious consequences. I hope this practice finds ways to support patients better so no one else feels unsupported at such a vulnerable time.”
“I want to share my experience so others can make an informed decision. I contacted this clinic during a suicidal crisis and was told I could receive support. Due to my father passing I missed one appointment. Instead of rescheduling or checking on my safety, I received a call telling me I was being dropped as a client due to the missed appointment. Clients seeking therapy are human beings dealing with real-life situations, illness, and mental health crises. In my case, the lack of flexibility and compassion during a very vulnerable time was extremely disappointing and concerning. If you are considering services here, I strongly recommend asking about their attendance and discharge policies ahead of time, especially if you are seeking care during a mental health crisis.”
