“I have been with you for over a little of 2 years. I highly recommend them. But right now it will take about 2 months or so to get into them because of being short staffed I think they said. I know there is other counseling centers too. But New Oakland is the Best One Yet and it shows because of how long I have been with them getting help with my issues currently and from the past. They are awesome! And once again I Highly Recommend Them for Your Needs! Just make sure you keep your appointments so they know you are serious about the help you need. And so people that are still on the list waiting to get an appointment can get in sooner if you decide New Oakland is not for you. “My ex husband and I were in crisis mode with our teenage child. We reached out to New Oakland for help. Our child is extremely defiant and had several outburst. Which was explained during the intake process. New Oakland assured us that this was the right program and that they would be able to help us. Unfortunately a week into the program my child decided that he was going to manipulate the program because he wanted to get discharged . My child had a raging outburst during the family session and took complete control of the session. The staff was not prepared for this outburst and I could see the shock in their faces. The day after Thanksgiving they asked that I come into the group therapy program and stay because of my child’s behavior. They explained they do not have security or extra help and they don’t feel comfortable with my child being there in the program without a parent. Needless to say, my ex husband went and babysat the therapy and missed a day of work to do so. They discharged my child that day. We had a follow up session with a counselor named Jim. Unfortunately I had been struggling with an illness. And was not able to take my son for his session with Jim, so my partner of four years took my son. The staff is familiar with my partner since he was taking my child to the morning group therapy sessions. Later I received a phone call from Jim explaining that we have an outstanding balance that needs to be taken care of immediately and that he needs to speak to me. I called him back, Jim was very abrupt. I could hear his annoyance with me. The first thing that he brought up was The outstanding balance. And then he went on to lecture me that I have to be there for every appointment not my partner. He also went on to lecture me that I need to think about my parenting style and not fight fire with fire with my child. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I was not impressed with Jim. I’m not impressed that my ex-husband paid close to $3000 already and now they are still asking for more money. Plus Insurance paid them too! For what? For my child to be discharged early? And I am not impressed with New Oakland at all. They were not prepared to help my child or our family. And I just wish they would’ve told us that from the get-go instead of wasting our time!”

“New Oakland has great staff and people who care. I’ve been going for a year now and when I first walked in I was grieving over the loss of my grandmother and almost turned to alcohol. I reached out for help and I now hardly battle with depression and I have my anxiety and ADD under control without medication. “They will try to scam you at last minute stating insurance is not accepted, must pay cash down asap! There's no nurse/dr/psychiatrist present...all via computer. Intake was a joke, not very professional, not in depth. My child reported professionals were speaking about one staffs experience the prior night taking someone out for their first alcoholic beverages. So many in between breaks, long lunch and no clock for kids to keep track of time...so staff just waste the therapy time that your paying BIG BUCKS FOR! New Oakland lied to cmh, then tried to slam cmh like cmh was no good with paying to help consumers in need. Long story short new Oakland just wanted cash money paid within 24hrs. OH AND LACK OF PRIVACY AT RECEPTION DESK!! Pulled my child out after one day, cmh backed my decision!!”
