What patients say on Google

“I’ve had good experiences continuing my med management here. I started with a different provider before coming to New Directions and the transition was seamless. Wilson Smith has been good at listening to my symptoms, medication effects, and side effects. He is willing to adjust medications as needed to find the right dosage, or suggest new medications if something isn’t working. In the past, certain med management professionals elsewhere were overly conservative at times, and it felt like I was dancing on eggshells trying to get the right medication or dosage. I don’t have that problem here. Wilson Smith is pragmatic and down to earth. The only issue I had with this practice was trying to find a therapist. I mentioned to the coordinator that I had specific issues I wanted to focus on, and was looking for a therapist with experience in those disorders. After an initial delay I was scheduled with a therapist that was new to the practice. He was a bit frazzled during my intake. While he seemed like a nice guy, I don’t think he was experienced in the specific areas I wanted to focus on. At the end of the first week he was no longer working for New Directions. Since then I heard back from a therapist at a different practice who had me on a wait list. I’ve been seeing them for a month already. Then, the other day I finally got a voicemail from New Directions, saying they have another therapist for me. If you’re looking for med management you will be able to easily find that here. The shorter appointment times seem to let them see more patients. They don’t have a hard time scheduling med management. With therapy it seems like things are a bit more strained, and they have some logistical issues linking new patients with a therapist. Finding the right therapist can be tough in general so this isn’t unique to New Directions. After the pandemic, demand for therapy skyrocketed, and has likely stayed elevated compared to pre-pandemic levels. If you have specific issues or disorders to focus on you may need to be patient and wait for the right availability.”

“I've dealt with so many doctors and this by far was the worst experience on so many different levels. While trying to initially make the appointment one of the receptionists was extremely rude and hung up on me. I called back in and another receptionist apologized and kindly helped me. I got my appointment. Online there was misinformation about which locations were in person vs only virtual, I was assisted in finding a location. I had my first appointment, I felt like it was a positive conversation and helpful. We acknowledged several different things and I was much more hopeful. I got ADHD medication which was positive for me. She didnt send me information she was supposed to. Not a big deal. Next appointment. Change my dosage. They never sent in my script. She forgets to send me the information again. I spend the next month making countless phone calls each week. Leaving voicemails. Calling and checking with the pharmacy. They sent in my old dosage after I called them a week after my appointment to send in my prescription so I got that but I kept trying to get the correct dosage sent in. I talk to multiple departments and the manager and they continue to send in the wrong dosage. Week after week. Each employee I specifically tell them about the difference in dosage. Each voicemail I mention it and im getting more and more upset each call. Im paying these doctors for "medication management" and they havent managed the only thing I asked them to do after her barely spending 15 minutes with me. I had a few simple questions the second appointment and she quickly dismissed every question. I had to circle back to the questions more than once as she tried to just move forward. Fast forward, I was frustrated with the entire experience and wanted an extra month for budgeting and just simply to calm down more before my next appointment. We decided two months after the medication change for my next appointment, it took me a month to get my medication change. Let me push it back one month. I left a voicemail a week in advance explaining I just wanted more time because im still pissed about how everything was handled. They left me a simple voicemail which was professional saying they hoped to continue the relationship. That monday I left a voicemail saying Im happy to continue the relationship but want just another month to calm down and how I think thats fair based on how everything was mishandled. Call me to reschedule. I have not gotten any calls to reschedule but only text reminders about my appointment days later. Its been a week perhaps longer since I left my initial voicemail. Three days since I left two more voicemails about rescheduling my appointment. At this point the doctors are blatantly disrespecting my request to reschedule and I can no longer make it to the appointment nor do I want to spend money financially on it. The text doesnt allow you to cancel and no one answers the phone. You get charged if you answer or not. If I get charged ill be entering a fraud claim. The mismanagement has really started to negatively wear me down as I already have a great deal of other strain in my life, as I've explained clearly to my doctor. As a mental health facility, do better. Please be wary or find somewhere else.”

“Ms. Johnson White, PMHNP, is absolutely wonderful. She truly listens to my concerns and offers practical, achievable solutions. She has already helped me tremendously. My experience has been fantastic, and I would highly recommend her to anyone.”

“Completely disorganized, rude, and immature. I had my appointment at the Bloomfield office canceled and rescheduled three times. The last time, I received a call from the psychiatrist less than ten minutes before my appointment, who told me she didn't have time to do it, then hung up on me. Utter garbage. I'd leave a zero review if possible.”
