“BEYOND unprofessional. My initial appointment went well, scheduled two additional appointments for ADHD testing. I was taken to a room in the back of the office to complete the testing on a provided laptop. Throughout the test, I could over hear several voice of whom I could only assume are providers/clinician’s as they sat in a circle in a large room outside. During my test, I hear a CLEAR name of a patient (whom I just so happen to know), the patients voice, as well as their prescribed medications. As I completed the test, I was instructed to sit in the lobby until my next appointment to go over my results. As I sat, I again over hear staff discussing a patient and their treatment plan and how “the patients concerns were not real because she’s too young to be anxious, not be around large crowds, etc and how the medical treatment she is seeking just won’t work”. I then heard a professional discussing MYSELF stating how “this generation assumes they’re autistic what’s wrong with them, now everyone’s just autistic”. Unfortunately not everyone possesses the knowledge of the various mental illnesses or may not have had access to healthcare to seek treatment. I was appalled at their behaviors and how it is unaligned with the values stating on their website. It’s unfortunate and saddening as a person of color, who also holds a background in mental health to see how a patient is discussed behind closed doors (open doors in this matter). I will be contacting my insurance, as I’d hate to provide my hard earned money to such a facility.”
