“I called ahead weeks in advance to let this practice know that I was hearing troubling reports about the generic XR version of my ADHD medication—many patients saying it “wasn’t working like it used to.” even other licensed practitioners that have been advising their patience to get off Xrs and onto inst releases. I told them I’ve noticed it too and asked to get ahead of the issue before it became a problem. Instead of being treated as a responsible, proactive patient, I was met with suspicion, as if I were someone chasing early refills or misusing meds. The nurse’s response was effectively “just stop the XR and wait for your next appointment in a week.” No alternatives, no discussion of IR (instant-release) options, no acknowledgment of the medication’s decreased efficacy. On top of that: the front-office communication is a mess. My call got mis-handled, my concern dropped into a black hole, and when I followed up I got told I was “cussing” at staff—which I was not. The entire experience feels dismissive and stigmatizing. If you depend on this clinic for ADHD medication management or any chronic-care treatment, be aware: you may not get the kind of respect, continuity, or effective communication you deserve.”
