What patients say on Google
“As a family member who was very nervous with their loved one going there due to the overwhelming negative reviews, it was much better than what those portray! There were some staff members who were kind and did their best, and I’m grateful for the care they provided in those moments. [The psych NP seemed to truly care and was great with communication]. They also seem to diligently monitor their patients and are aware of persistent or changing behavior, which I really appreciated! However, the discharge planning process was frustrating and incredibly difficult to navigate. As family members, we had to put in a significant amount of time, energy, and persistence just to ensure a safe plan was in place. We were the ones pushing everything forward rather than being guided or supported. No family should have to work or stress that hard to advocate for a safe and appropriate discharge for their loved one. Additionally, several personal items went missing during the stay, including multiple outfits and shoes. I’d recommend not sending items in that you are not ok with potentially getting lost. Overall, while there were some positive interactions with staff and I initially had nothing but great feedback, the lack of support in discharge planning made this experience far more difficult than it should have been.”
“I was there for 2 days. I was 28 weeks pregnant at the time. I was on Ativan a medicine you can’t just stop. Well they decide they weren’t going to give me my Ativan which in turn threw my body and baby into shock and withdrawal which is very dangerous. The staff called a squad 2x the second time I was admitted into my Carmel east and which those drs and my OB drs said that what they did was dangerous and they should have known it being “medical professionals” plus they aren’t a detox center. The nurses none of them were nice to me they watched me have a panic attack I from of the nurse station and did nothing just told me shut up go away. I was supposed to have extra cigs bc of the baby they refused and that threw me and my baby into shock. They als tried to forcefully drag me to my room bc I was having a panic attack. All I wanted was someone to sit with me and talk with me through it. Not once staff member called my husband when I was squaded either times the other patients did. The other patients there are taking care of each other the drs there aren’t doing anything. I have a malpractice lawsuit I can file. Whatever was with held everytime I got a cup and didn’t drink in there or have it in my hand it was tossed. I asked for socks they told me they didn’t have any but yet when opening the cabinet for soap they were fully stocked on socks the food I can’t say much bc I didn’t eat much I couldn’t I was vomiting and crapping. On stop from the withdrawal they put me in by no giving me my meds. They were giving me meds that I don’t even know if they were safe for baby or not. I had no access to outside no gym time not outside at all unless I was smoking. I would seriously rate this as a prison not mental hospital because it’s like like they open the door shove you in here ya go now shut up and be quiet.”
“My 22 years old daughter was pink slipped to Mount Carmel Behavioral Health (MCBH) on a Saturday. After her three-day stay minus the weekend, which totaled five days, she was given a form to voluntarily sign for her care. A day after she signed the volunteer care paper, she rescinded and asked to be released home to her parents. During her entire stay no provider contacted the parent or find ways to get in communication with any of her relatives. She was threatened to sign her medical paperwork to get treatment and to take all the medicine they were given, or face probate. Remember, she voluntarily signed herself for treatment after the 72-hour hold. During that time when they want to bate her into signing for her care they considered her sane and that she has capacity. However, she has been threatened with probate because she lacks capacity and she is a threat to herself and the public. She had an outburst in the ED and she pushed a nurse after she was involved in a car accident that she was lucky to get out of without a scratch on her body. She was subdued and medicated, and then pink slipped after that one incident. This is a black young woman that has never had any issues like that before. Now, she is been held against her will. No one from the facility has ever attempted to talk to her parent or any family members. And yet, they have filed to probate her stating they are concerned for her safety. They said she is in a manic state and they want to keep her for as long as it takes. MCBH is after insurance money. They want to keep her because they know her insurance would pay for her stay. If she didn't have insurance they would have got her out of that place a long time ago. They are not listening to her and they are violating all of her right as a patients. One minute she has capacity because she was doing what they want. The next minute she lacks capacity because she is refusing to do what they are asking of her. How can they ask someone that they have deemed as lacking capacity that they want to probate to sign their own medical form? Don't they know after five days that she lacks capacity and is unable to make decisions for herself? Why don't they try to reach out to her parents to talk about her care? Their defense when those questions were asked six days later was, "She is an adult, and she has to tell them whom to release her medical information to or whom to talk to about her care." Again, they are saying she can make her own decisions and yet, they want to probate her for refusing? Can someone please help me understand how that works, please? Why did they not file for probate after the 72-hour hold? Does that make sense at all?”
“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A huge thank you to Juan and MT Carmel Behavioral for helping make our first annual Fish Fry such a success! The fish was absolutely delicious, and we received so many compliments throughout the event. Your hard work, dedication, and the care you put into everything truly made the day special. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to working with you again in the future. Highly recommend!”
