How likely are you to recommend Missouri Psychiatric Center?
“The social worker did not prepare my family member for post-discharge. Social worker Donita said, "we will work together," to find resources for your family member. In reality, that meant me sending the social worker a list of facilities that I thought 'might' work but I requested her guidance. All she did was print off the list of facilities that I provided her and put them into the discharge packet. This was entirely unhelpful. It was already mentally taxing to find a list of potential resources. To be expected to complete the work of finding which resources and specialists would fit our circumstances felt disheartening and neglectful. I am a first-time caretaker of a newly diagnosed, fragile, volatile family member that now has to navigate the healthcare world and find resources on my own. Social worker Donita did not help my family have a secure discharge plan for my mentally ill family member.”
“I recently went here for mental health reasons and it was the best experience I have had at an inpatient so far. Dakota and Theo are some of the best people I have ever met and really helped me on some of the worst days of my life. The place is clean, the food is good, the staff is fun, and the staff do a really good job making sure you are comfortable. Andrew and Doctor Airheart did an awesome job making sure that my treatment was what I needed, and that I could be safe and resume life once I left the hospital. Patience is an amazing worker as well and really connects with and helps the patients feels wanted and cared about. My parents were able to visit me daily, and I had many hours throughout the day that I could call them. This place is truly phenomenal, and while there are a few people there that could do better at their jobs, the ones that put in effort are care about their patience make this place truly amazing.”
“Last year I got put in here and a staff member who was leading the night staff along with another staff member manhandled me and left a visible bruise on me that was noticed by the person who picked me up.”
“No one here wanted to help my daughter, they said they had no criteria for her. It was a waste of time. The staff treat parents terrible. I will never take my child to them again. They should be ashamed of the way they treat families in need of help. As a mother worried for the safety of her child and other children in the home they basically told me to lock my kid in her room or find different placement for her where there is no kids in the home. (Foster daughter) they decided to keep her for one night after I begged for help only to keep her in an assessment room, let her watch TV for the day and cut off communication between us and cancled our visit. We picked her up the next day on discharge with no help or outpatient info. One of these days someone is going to ask for help and they are going to turn them away or offer nothing and something is going to happen to child or someone else. And I hope they know that will be on their hands for their lack of care, and professionalism.”
