“Took my grandson in around 2am to be seen as he suffers from mental illness. We were finally seen at 3:07am I which a big man placed gloves on his hands. To instruct my grandson to take off everything and place in bag. So the onlooking nurse & 2 other staff members could stand and watch. The RN was the only one really speaking. Telling my already confused grandson that he’d have to see psychiatrist. My grandson asked what’s that… She went on to explain that he’s there voluntarily and doesn’t have to speak to anyone if he doesn’t want to. My grandson asked can she give him a time that he could go home. She then told him it’s up to him and he didn’t have to stay. I’m sitting in the same room observing how the staff is doing EVERYTHING but make him feel safe. It was as if he was being bullied to say he didn’t want help. I don’t know their job and in no way am I pretending too. It was heartbreaking & humiliating to watch. I need my grandson to get help he deserves & desperately needs. Because truthfully I am exhausted & I’ve been trying everything. I am gonna try my hardest to get my grandson the help he needs. But being witness to the way they handle my poor confused grandson. Made me reflect on the many people that are out here on the streets struggling with their mental health. My grandson threatens to take his life. More times than I can count. This evening he was begging me to shoot him in the head. This was the reason I chose to call MPD at 10pm by midnight the police still hadn’t showed. I ended up calling 911 & cancel police coming to my home. My grandson had calmed enough to get him in my car. And attempt to get help. Which the worst experience ever. My heart breaks for those that go to this hospital thinking they’ll be met with welcoming professional care. My grandson ran out after me with his belongings in his hand. Less than an hour later. My grandson jumped out my car in another attempt to take his life. My heart is broken I had to call 911 AGAIN!! This time because my 18yr old grandson just jumped out of my moving vehicle Police, ambulance & police surround my car & my grandson is taken away in ambulance & as I’m writing this. I’ve no idea of what is happening or where he is. I can only pray that the police have him in mental health hospital as my grandson needs mental help… I’ll be still & pray GOD keeps him covered until he’s able to reach out to me…”
“I went to this place voluntarily after being assaulted by an ex boyfriend. The "Doctor" was the weirdest looking and acting person ive ever encountered in life and a field like this. The nurses upon entry were extremely nice and helpful. However, when I finally got to speak with the doctor, he made a rude remark to another employee because i discarded the old, disgusting sandwich i was provided. He then sits across from me with the weirdest, careless, tight lipped smirk as i explained i was having a crisis after being attacked by an ex boyfriend. He was so cold, mean and careless about what happened to me, and ended up offering me to lay down in 1 of the hard chairs in a tv/breakroom set up. I was treated as if i were homeless and being done a favor. I was not offered true support as a voluntary entry. That "doctor" could not possibly be real. He looked and felt very much like he belonged on the other side of this program. I would never in a million years recommend someone go here if they truly want and need help.”
“I know someone was put on a restraint table and gave them needle shots he was not doing nothing wrong. A lot of people jump him. Watch your kids. Please watch out. The fbi needs to investigate”
“Horrible place. Was admitted for being suicidal and needed help, yet they completely disregarded my needs. Put me in a room with other disabled people after talking to me ONCE and just left me there with my own thoughts for 8 hours. They have these people behind a glass wall looking at us like we're a damn zoo. Asked for a referral cause I was trying to be helpful, yet they declined my request saying they don't do that there. How can you receive help from such a place when even its employees see you as a nuisance?”
