What patients say on Google

“In 2025 MHA started implementing Medicaid SPA 20-0005 by wrongfully removing longstanding rental subsidy recipients to put more homeless people on their docket. They began telling people that they were never on the subsidy and you were being removed because of an audit even if you remember signing papers twenty plus years ago. They began to psychologically abuse and torture their clients by telling them to get a SPOA and get recertification so that Medicaid could pay for their housing. This is what happened to my mother and I after 23 years on a family voucher. They kicked me off and kept her on even though we both filed as two disabled adults in 2003. I remember the person I filled out all my paperwork with yet MHA continues to tell me I was never in the case just like a psychological sociopath domestic abuser. These people have literally ruined my life and they are compassionless. I did some digging and came to realize that there is a class action suit brewing for this exact behavior by MHA. Every person who has been on a subsidy for twenty plus years or several years has rights to due process something MHA did not afford me and other clients. There is a clinical term called "Institutional Betrayal". They simply began retraumatizing people by telling them to go see a therapist 3 times then you’ll get put on the SPOA waiting list and we can advocate for you. Really? MHA is going to advocate for you to be removed from the original subsidy that you have evidence you were on for 23 years? And then they are going to act like the exact abusers who got you into this situation in the first place. You also have a legal right to refuse to do a SPOA if you have evidence of being on the case. “OMH implementation guidelines explicitly state that the transition of existing residents into this funding stream must not disrupt housing stability or "Continuity of Care." Demanding a "fresh" SPOA intake to facilitate MHA’s administrative billing—at the cost of the persons residency status—is a predatory use of a state fiscal update.” If you experienced this please contact legal aid and the Human Rights Association.”

“This is not truly a great organization. They closed my case on me and removed me from the Compeer program. To be fair, the peer that they matched me up with wasn't that great of a guy anyway. They probably have a high employee turnover rate. The quality of care in Orange and the surrounding counties is seriously lacking. Let me just add this. There are reasons for the less than stellar score that they've been given by both myself and others. These nasty people may talk a good game, but their actions reveal where they truly stand.”

“If you don't want your mental health to get worse than don't go to MHA. All they care about is getting a signature from you so they can charge your insurance and get their paycheck. I've been working with them for over three years and I'm on my third case worker and each time I have to start from scratch and they tell you they will help you with everything you need and you get a sense of hope but nothing gets done and your lucky if they contact you at all. Since I have been with MHA I have felt so hopeless that I have suicidal thoughts on almost an everyday basis. They play their commercials on the radio and you think that's exactly what I need but at the end it says joint MHA. When I first heard the radio commercial I was hopeful thinking that's everything I need help with and as soon as they said it was MHA I broke down hysterically crying. It's a scam if you want help I don't suggest trying to get it from them.”

“No one every answers the phone, my case manager is constantly changing due to lack of staff. With the services i'm receiving i feel like i'm not being helped to the fullest extent. I believe most of the managers only care about getting a paycheck and not actually helping those in need. 1 star is still too many stars than what they deserve.”
