“I first got introduced to the MHA by being part of their peer support program. Their peer support program was so helpful in my recovery and quality of life. Over time I felt comfortable with attending the Phoenix Center and I must say that it’s the ONE place that I felt welcomed, safe, and valued just as I am with my personality flaws. I was always welcomed warmly and had so much fun at their events. There were even days that I was struggling and I could call their warmline and talk to a live person that understood what I was going through. I never felt shamed. My personality is strong at times. I’m working on it, but it’s not always the most kind or good at listening. I’m still treated with patience and empathy. I genuinely don’t know what I’d do without the MHA staff and my friends there.
