What patients say on Google

“I have had a very positive experience coming to this office! Communicating with the admin team, particularly Brittney, and my provider, Angela Adams has been straightforward and they are very compassionate! They have been accommodating with helping me set up a billing system that works for me with my high deductible plan.”

“This review reflects my personal experience as a patient of Erin Burgess. My last two appointments were so destabilizing & unprofessional that I feel obligated to warn others. At the 11/26 visit, I was sick, stressed, & exhausted. Instead of support, Erin made a statement so out of line that I immediately shut down: “Your life will never get any better.” My husband overheard her say this directly to me. As an autistic patient w/ PTSD, I found that profoundly destabilizing. I became overwhelmed & instinctively ended the call, which is a normal response when a provider becomes antagonistic. Erin then did not prescribe the long-term medications I have been stable on for years. My husband spent the next day contacting the office to prevent a sudden loss of essential medication. Because I rely on consistency and routine, I tried to repair the situation at the next appt on 12/18. I apologized for my PTSD reaction (surreal to have to do as a patient), but Erin refused to acknowledge the impact of her statement or her role as the catalyst. Instead, she told me she was “not equipped” to treat me. *I cannot emphasize this enough: making catastrophic, fatalistic comments like “Your life will never get any better” is not therapeutic language. It is psychologically harmful and clinically prohibited. Providers are trained not to use deterministic statements. This was not a simple autistic patient/provider mismatch. Her statement was harmful.* Her “not equipped” statement also contradicted what I understood from our first in-person appointment, where I specifically asked about her experience with autistic patients & was led to believe she had the background to treat me appropriately. This reversal made it impossible for me to trust anything she said about her own competence. In my opinion, & based on how she interacted with me, Erin did not come across as someone who understands or respects the autistic lived experience. I again explained that autistic people often struggle with a neurotypical sleep pattern, & that this was part of my childhood diagnostic history. She dismissed it with “I don’t know anything about that,” followed by a lecture about *sleep hygiene* that came across as ableist & out of touch with neurodivergent reality. There is established research on autistic sleep patterns. Her dismissal made me feel she viewed it as irrelevant. My husband sat beside me & was equally disturbed. Instead of apologizing for her 11/26 statement, she escalated. Based on her behavior across both appointments, I realized I was trusting someone who couldn’t even apologize to me. I told her directly that living without self-reflection or accountability is a very unhealthy way to function. Perhaps there is more to life than the “cornerstone” being “sleep hygiene.” (As a side note, her use of the term sleep hygiene made no sense in context; ‘hygiene’ is literal language about cleanliness, not about neurophysiology, and she never explained what she meant). The 12/18 appointment appeared to exist solely to bill me and then inform me I was being dropped. She normally prescribes more than one month at a time but chose not to after 11/26, effectively forcing me into a paid visit just to be discharged. As a patient, this felt like a financial penalty on top of a mishandled situation. Autistic adults have dealt with situations like this for far too long. I will be escalating this to every regulatory agency & licensing board. Neurodivergent patients are no longer tolerating providers who harm our community. It gets worse. Across all my appointments, I consistently updated her about my 22-year-old cat with cancer. He has been a stabilizing force in my life and has provided me with more steady, reliable, and compassionate care over the last 22 years than I have ever received from this provider. At the 12/18 appointment, with a prognosis of days to weeks, she did not ask about him once. That silence said everything about the indifference I was dealing with. Erin Burgess was one of the worst medical provider experiences of my life.”

“My experience is not the same as those who posted here. I was treated with kindness and compassion, but my treatment was uneven. Erin Burgess’s quality of care was inconsistent with my needs and at times she appeared to lack concern for what I was going through. Communication was abysmal and I often had to follow up multiple times to get an answer and even then I never received the treatment that I actually needed. In the end I terminated my relationship with this firm as it became obvious that they were ill-equipped to deal with my mental health issue. If you are suffering mild depression then this firm may be able to help you, however if you are dealing with something sever such as the suicide of your only daughter then perhaps try another firm.”

“Disgraceful dehumanizing front desk service. Read full review below I was prescribed a new medication with no explanation about what it is for and what it does and i’ve been trying to get in touch with them to find out but they almost never answer the phone or respond to voicemails and the office is sometimes closed during their operating hours. I was called one time to be given an explanation and I called back within one minute and they completely forgot about me. It’s clear they don’t think about their patients unless they are in the office. Update: Went to the office today as a last recourse and was treated with such disrespect it made me want to cry.I was told I can’t come into the office asking for help and telling them I feel abandoned. She lied about answering my calls to address my issue saying she talked to me and said she can call the cops on me for doing that. I had to tell her two times why I was there because she wasn’t listening to me. She was so triggered for some reason. Just avoid this place. This receptionist thinks she can talk to patients like they’re not human. Talked to me like I’m the problem. I was shocked by the way she treated me. The doctor who decides what medication to prescribe you isn’t the one you talk to about what you’re dealing with. I find this strange and probably lowers the accuracy of diagnosis. Also they don’t send your prescriptions for days or respond to refill requests from your pharmacy. You always have to remind them to get it done properly. Update: The medication was the wrong one for me so I spent $550 for the consultations for nothing. I had a feeling the whole time that it wasn’t going to be the right one and I was right. I didn’t identify with the disorder the medication is primarily used to treat so I don’t know why they prescribed it to me.”
