What patients say on Google
“If I could give this doc zero stars I would. She ruined my life. My GP referred me to Dr Hartzen many years ago to taper off of a drug that he prescribed for a very short time. She suggested I switch to another drug that she claimed was a “baby dose”and “meant for long-term use”. Under her continuous care for ten years and still on the same medication I started developing strange symptoms. I developed a movement disorder. She was unimpressed. I continued on the medication another six years. I later found out that the drug should only be prescribed for no longer than a couple weeks. My care was moved to neurologists for treatment for the movement disorder. In researching this class of drug I found many struggling with similar symptoms. I contacted Dr Hartzen for help to properly taper off the medication she put me on. The office refused to see me as I switched to the neurologist’s care and said she wasn’t seeing “new” patients. I saw Dr Hartzen for 16 years!!! I had only been away from the office a couple years but the fact that she put me on this drug against my GP’s orders and led me to believe it was safe, I would think she would do the right thing and help to deprescribe the drug. I ended up seeing a different doc who has been amazing but this doctor and this drug stole many years from me. The suffering has been horrible! I would not trust this woman with my life.”
“Dr. Marla Hartzen is an amazing psychiatrist. I have known her for over 20 years, and throughout that time she has provided me with excellent medication management, thoughtful guidance, and referrals to therapists when needed. I cannot speak highly enough of her. She has always treated me with kindness, compassion, patience, and a gentle approach that has made a tremendous difference in my care. I recently read a Google review claiming that Dr. Hartzen had “ruined” someone’s life. That person's experience is very different from mine, and I could not disagree more based on the care I have received over the past two decades. My experience with Dr. Hartzen has been overwhelmingly positive, and I am extremely grateful for the care, support, and professionalism she has provided me over the years. I would recommend her very highly.”
