What patients say on Google
“I usually don't write reviews unless they are positive. I have put a great deal of thought into whether I would post this or not. My husband was a patient here the beginning of this year. He opened up, cooperated, and got himself back into a good headspace. What we thought would be a few days turned into 8 because of his social worker Kym's extreme lack of communication. She knew we have 2 kids, who I was home alone with, and she provided zero support to his family at home. She was impossible to get ahold of. I'm the one who set up his outpatient therapy and psychiatrist appointments, which is her job. I had to reach out MANY times over multiple days to even set up a family meeting to plan his discharge, dropping everything to drive the hour to Philly. The only positive was the incredible nurse that always answered the phone and gave me updates when she was able. Other than her, this place made one of the hardest times of our life, even harder.”
“My stay at Malvern was exceptionally phenomenal. It was clean, orderly, and my peers as well as the staff were incredibly friendly, supportive, and encouraging. It has saved my life and I have found a newfound confidence. If I ever found myself at another low and needed to consider inpatient again, I’d like to make the return and I’d highly recommend this place to anyone that needed help. Thank you.”
“I want to start off by saying my first 6 days at Malvern was the best time i’ve had in years. the connections i made with not only the other patients but the staff was incredible. HUGE SHOUTOUT starting with the techs Brooklyn, Luciano, Linda, and Jeff. They are all amazing and tried everyday to make connections with each patient and it showed. They truly made a huge impact on my stay in the best way possible. Brooklyn especially is a sweetheart. she would sit and interact with all of us and joke around and get involved in our rumy games no matter how many times she lost. but i'm especially grateful for her. With that being said i have to turn it over to JD. JD is a literal godsend. i don’t think my experience would have been the same if it weren’t for her. right away her bright bubbly personality popped out and i knew we were gonna be a great fit. Honestly i fully believe she is the best person for her line of work. She made sure i was okay every-time we passed each other in the halls and every meeting. she took care of my leave papers and even informed my gf about everything that had to do with me. JD is truly an inspiration and i’m so grateful to have had her as my social worker during my stay. Unfortunately on my 7th day of my stay my journal had gone missing. The night before i had organized both journals i had on top of my folder they had given me. i went into full panic mode and straight into an anxiety attack. the nurses just kept saying to me that staff doesn’t take journals and that i must have lost it. i felt like i was being gaslit in the one place that was supposed to help me work through the that trauma. i even reached out to pat for help who is one of the therapists who actually helped me a lot with his sandbox technique. but he also kind of accused me of misplacing it which made me feel even more terrible. come to find out i was never even supposed to have this journal with me to begin with because it had metal spirals on the side. i was failed by malvern twice. they let me have something that was deemed dangerous by staff and their protocol and then they took it away without informing me and gaslit me into thinking that i was the one who lost/misplaced it. 20 minutes after i had lost it with the help of Jeff, it was found behind the nurses station. the same place they told me it wouldn’t be because they don’t touch journals. the only 2 people able to calm me down after that was Jeff and JD. JD came in and gave me a huge motivational speech and turned it into a learning moment for not only me but Malvern as a whole. I did receive an apology from the tech that retrieved my book without telling me and was told they had too many admissions that day and were too busy to come find me. this situation could have been prevented if they didn’t call people off everyday. there should be more than 2-3 techs at all times especially with 20+ patients living on the unit. other than this small hiccup my stay at Malvern was exceptional. I hope i never have to come back but if i do, i know ill be in great hands. So again i want to say thank you to JD, Brooklyn, Jeff, Linda, and Luciano for welcoming me with open arms and the sense of community that the patients themselves carry on from group to group.”
“It was the right place and just what our family needed at this time for our child to get over the hump in a controlled and safe environment. Its a stressful situation to begin with but the staff was very forthcoming on the process and explained everything very well. I think the biggest thing is to trust the facilty and support the person who is there. We knew our child needed help that we couldn't provide at home and they knew they needed help as well.”
