“**LONG POST ALERT BUT DETAILED REVIEW** I was a patient of Dr. Shah for 11 years. I decided to finally end our provider-patient relationship because he told me that I needed to learn to "deal with and control the situation [I'm] in" and he knows that my situation inovolves abuse/power control/people who don'tcare about my wellbeing... . There's no way i can control that. I told him that I believe I also had tachyphylaxis (aka antidepressant no longer working since I had been on it for 11 years) as well as tolerance of my anxiolytic. He told me I asked for medication changes too much. He told me that because I'm pursuing a career as a Psychiatric and Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner, he believes I'm using my knowledge to my advantage. He also told me that I had a personality problem. **ALL ABOUT MONEY** There was one time a year ago when I could not afford my copay the day of my visit via telephone, but promised to pay 2 days later. His response was yelling, telling me I needed to have the money at the time of visit and then he hung up on me. This was all after I sent him a $100+ Christmas gift basket to show him my appreciation. **WHAT TO EXPECT** If you're looking for a provider solely for medication management and will not too much care to delve into your personal life and hear how you've been doing (he'll ask how you've been, but his reply will simply be "mmhmm" and there will be no conversation, most of the time) then Dr. Shah is the doctor for you. **WHY NOT 1 STAR?** I have him two stars because he is genuinely a nice person. But he would just have his moments and this most recent one was the last straw for me. I wish nothing but the absolute best for him and will actually kinda miss him!”
“I haven’t been here, but I am sitting OUTSIDE the office and I can hear the doctor yelling at his employee. I wouldn’t want to be a patient here if he treats his staff that way. Edit/follow-up: I called the office and I believe the woman picked up. I told her I had been sitting in the hall and I heard yelling, so I wanted to make sure everyone was ok. I assumed she passed the phone to the doctor because a man was suddenly on the phone. He asked who I was and I told him I was just someone outside, a stranger. I vented my frustrations, as I have been in toxic work environments, and told him I would never want him as my psychiatrist. All he kept saying was thank you for your concern. I don’t know what else he could have said in that situation, but that wasn’t it. All I hope is that there are no repercussions to her from my call and review. I don’t care what the situation is, you don’t yell or create an environment where situations like that arise. From reading other reviews, I guess he’s got great malpractice insurance. And girl, you can do better than this place that doesn’t even respect you.”
“Dr. Shah is very nice. 1st visit was in person, the last 2 have been over the phone. Tomorrow will be in person because of my depression. I had a Dr for 12 years and pushing political views on a patient isn't what I wanted anymore. TY Dr. Shah for always being concerned. My refills are at store b4 I get home.”
“The reason I am giving two stars is because when we had our appointments, they were quick and he did refill my medications. That being said, I would tell anyone who cares about their mental health to stay far away. You will NEVER receive a return phone call if you have issues between appointments. I had to taper off of a medication by myself (incredibly dangerous) after leaving multiple messages asking for help in doing so. After not receiving a call back for two months and having so many issues, I left several more messages and said it was an urgent matter. Never a call back. Over the last several years this was an ongoing issue. Not a one off. Then I messaged him and he did not reply. Thank the Lord I found a doctor who cares enough to respond to patients. This has been the most frustrating experience with a doctor that I have ever had. He would spend all of one minute on the phone with me for each appointment which I assume is the same for others so it’s not like he was too busy to return phone calls.”
