Magellan Behavioral Health of PA

“As others have said, it's impossible to find a provider. The people that work for the call center and nice, but they are not trained well enough to know how to send you a provider list. There is no insurance card, and as a result, even providers that accept the insurance aren't able to easily verify that you are in network. I love my kids' health insurance, but I will have to switch just to avoid behavioral health management by this company.”

“This is the worst insurance I've ever had. Etena is even better this. I've been trying to find a provider that meets my needs, for over a year now. The provider directory is not up to date. The address, phone numbers and other pertinent information is wrong. Several of the providers listed are no longer in network or accepting new clients. There is a lack of diversity amongst the providers. I've been trying to find a pyschiatrist and therapist that specializes in several services including racial trauma, ptsd, anxiety, depression and more. I've called the 800 number several times to inquire about services and the list the emailed me was useless. I wish I didn't live in the county. Clients should be able to receive services from providers in neighboring counties if they can't find one where they live. I've been trying to do a single case agreement with several providers and they as well as I have been getting the run around. I have more access and availability to choose a PCP or other specialist outside of my county then a behavioral health provider. This is sad and something needs to be done. So many people in PA are suffering due to red tape and politics.”

“2022...Good luck if you need a psychiatrist and help! No psychiatrists available. Its a joke and everytime you contact Magellan, they never have any new doctors. Be prepared to pay out of pocket if you need help!! 3 years later (now 2025) and still no help and getting the runaround from Magellan. Be aware, Magellan and Magellan of PA are two totally different insurances. Magellan of PA has no psychiatrist available. It's devastating to need help and your insurance company could care less.”

“No disrespect to this establishment but if I could rate Magellan of PA’s insurance honestly; I would give it less than half of a star. Their list of providers are not current. Providers who accept Magellan don’t accept Magellan of PA based on my own search I did with Google. It’s infuriating to need support and not have access to it with “insurance”. I would recommend no one use this insurance because it isn’t helpful at all.”
