What patients say on Google

“Staff seems to have trouble keeping an eye on all the patients without getting distracted and the place could definetly be cleaner. but the staff is very supportive if you just ask for the help you need. I feel they could do a better job at reaching out tp the patients instead of relying on them to reach out first.”

“I'm posting this from a "burner" account as to hopefully not publicize my own recent treatment but, honestly speaking from my experience there, the Doctors and social workers here truly work very hard, 24/7, and care deeply about each patient as well as promoting positive change by instilling daily life skills, into all patients. Constantly helping assist any patient to achieve absolutely whatever the team deems neccesary for recovery, and at the consent of the individual, all in order to assure the rascals don't return for the same mistakes/mishaps. Not only that, but to my knowledge, every employed person on the property, saw through the most sympathetic, and genuinely friendly, 'eyes' regarding treatment of patients altrhoughout observing and interacting with every admitted person. Truly emphasizing, and embolding, and living up to the standard that: 'recovery is not a punishment, but a gift' I enjoyed 80-90% of the meals I received, and I can definitely be picky. I must admit, clearly even the cooks were putting their hearts and minds into the work they procured. Moreover, the technicians ran a very tight ship, orchestrating as protective guardians and peacekeepers, ensuring no one had any opportunity to find themselves in serious danger/harm at any point during their stay. Patients didn't break up fights, seldomly they're the ones engaging in them, verbally, with one another, to which the wonderful and highly qualified Technicians resolved or mitigated all quarrels before they ever nearly became serious. So again safety is certainly a priority at Madden Mental Health facilities. (Review 1/2)”

“I am only leaving one star due to the few staff members that kept me sane in that place and also 0 stars is not an option. I was transferred from another facility unfortunately and it felt like I went from heaven to hell. That entire facility is filthy. My face broke out into hives from the lack of cleanliness. The 7 days I spent there I felt like I was in a co-ed prison. You sleep cold and only with 1 thin sheet that smells and has stains on it. You can hear the mice and raccoons scratching and making noise in the walls. Staff said if we take food to our rooms we may wake up with mice in our bed. The heat was only coming in the day room so in your room you were freezing. No pillows staff said we are not there to comfortable only to get help with our mental health even though lack of a stable and clean environment can actually make your mental stability decrease. The food was honestly disgusting and barely edible. Dirty bathrooms and dirty and molding showers nothing about this place is clean. I feel as though I had the dream treatment team with my psychiatrist and social worker. They really saw the help I needed was more so on the outside than what they could do there for me. Some staff purposely try to antagonize you to make you react. It’s a money grab they are a state funded facility the longer you stay the more money they get. I had to have all my emotional breakdowns in my room in fear of staff saw me be anything but happy and smiling they would keep me longer. The floors were so dirty and they never cleaned the phones off even though multiple people used them. They gave us sink water to take with our medication and the water fountain they had clearly needed a filter change. Cleaning staff would barely clean. Mopping dirty floors that needed to be swept. I watched the cleaning staff mop over the same food that was on the floor multiple times just smearing it into the floor the more they put the dirty mop onto the floor. It took me 3 days of being there to get a actual towel to wash my body with I was showering with a full body towel due to the low amount of linen and shower material they had. We never could throw away our plastic silverware they had us put it in a brown paper bag so they could reuse them which is very unsanitary. Staff would laugh at us when we made complaints of the terrible treatment we dealt with. I thank nurse Lakeisha and mental health tech novella they were honestly what kept me sane in the midst of the mental torture I dealt with while there. Cynthia needs to retire. She clearly hates her job the way she treats patients. It won’t kill you cynthia to show compassion to people who are going through a hard time. Being a CNA and a nursing student I feel is what honestly got me out of there. If you have a family member there make sure you tell them to have something to look forward to when being released. Depending on the treatment team it could possibly help them be released from that hell hole. This place honestly is inhumane and needs to be shut down. A social worker slipped up and called our rooms our “cells”. Need I say more.”

“Terrible terrible place. Cannot get in touch tried for a day straight and when i called my boyfriend he was choking back tears and begging to get out of that place. I can’t stop crying and I miss him so much. They will not let you talk to your loved ones or give you any information. Truly a sick place.”
