The fact that my psychiatrist, “gets me”, for who I am, and has my treatment plan dialed in so accurately, is absolute relief from my mental health issues (problems, illnesses, disability… whatever you choose to call it). I needed this particular doctor to be top notch and I found it here. Also, if there’s anything you have an issue with it is resolved. Resolved. I never have never had any problems, but my daughter also uses this practice and her first Psychiatrist wasn’t a good fit for her and they immediately resolved it. Immediately. Not an issue since. “My mother has schizoaffective disorder and vascular dementia, so getting her out of the house is often unpredictable and extremely challenging. Today we drove an hour from Elizabeth City, NC to Virginia Beach through construction, only to find that we weren’t able to see the doctor. I appreciate Tasha for being kind and rescheduling us, but I need to be honest about our experience. Families caring for older adults with complex psychiatric and cognitive conditions need flexibility. Strict appointment windows don’t always work when a patient’s symptoms, mobility, or behavior can shift minute to minute. My mother is strong‑willed, spicy, and stubborn, and that’s part of who she is—but it also means we need providers who understand geriatric mental health and the realities of caregiving. I’m not sure if Lifestance regularly works with older patients like my mom, but if so, more flexibility and accommodation would make a huge difference for families like ours.””
