How likely are you to recommend Larkin Community Hospital Behavioral Health Services?
What patients say on Google
“I was admitted here last year and I just want to say this is one of the worst mental hospitals i have been to. As a patient they misdiagnose you to rip off your insurance, the doctors are never there, you ask for help and the staff balatanly ignore you (I couldn't even get a towel when I asked for one) there's miscommunication issues, the cleaning staff also stole my laundry, and to make matters worse i couldn't sleep one night and they gave me an injection ?? What ever happened to offering sleep remedies such as magnesium or melatonin or tea for crying out loud !? I mean it's a disgrace what they do to people here who are sick and suffering.”
“I was admitted to Larkin Community Hospital Behavioral Health Services after being Baker Acted. I had high hopes for receiving support and guidance during a very vulnerable time, but unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The group therapy sessions were very limited and often felt like a waste of time. Most of the sessions consisted of playing games or listening to music, and we rarely received any real instruction or strategies for managing emotions, coping with stress, or improving mental health. It felt like an opportunity to genuinely learn and grow was completely missed. The meals were also a major issue. They were often cold, especially in the mornings, which made it difficult to feel comfortable or cared for during my stay. Nutrition and basic comfort are such a simple but important part of recovery, and it felt overlooked. I was also deeply troubled by the behavior of many staff members. I saw staff making fun of patients and noticed that many were frequently on their phones rather than attending to those in their care. While there were a few staff members—three nurses in particular—who were attentive, kind, and genuinely seemed to care, it was painfully clear that many employees were unhappy in their roles and showed little interest in helping patients. This made the environment feel cold, unsupportive, and sometimes even hostile. Overall, my experience left me feeling frustrated and let down at a time when I was most in need of professional care and compassion. While Larkin Community Hospital may provide a structured environment for some patients, I would strongly recommend asking detailed questions about therapy sessions, staff engagement, and the quality of care before admission. My stay was far from what I expected, and I hope my feedback can help others make more informed decisions.”
“As a family member of a patient at Larkin Community Hospital, I am honestly outraged by what we experienced. The communication was absolutely nonexistent. No one had clear answers. Every single question was met with confusion, attitude, or “I don’t know.” We were constantly redirected from one person to another, repeating ourselves over and over while getting completely inconsistent information. It felt chaotic and disorganized, like no one was actually in charge. What made it worse was the lack of professionalism. Staff members seemed disengaged and distracted, frequently on their cellphones while patients and families were sitting there worried and waiting. There was no sense of urgency, no empathy, and no reassurance during an already stressful time. As a family trying to advocate for a loved one, we felt dismissed and ignored. Instead of compassion, we were treated like we were a burden for asking basic questions about someone’s health. It genuinely felt like patient care was not the priority. Hospitals are supposed to provide clarity, professionalism, and compassion. Unfortunately, our experience reflected the complete opposite. I would not recommend this facility to anyone who expects attentive care, clear communication, or respect for patients and their families. Serious improvements are needed in accountability, communication, and overall standards of care.”
“I only have great things to say about Larkin. Michelle is the most wonderful human being I have met in a long time with the most common sense also. She truly cares about people. I am in awe at how she handles everything with such ease. Thanks to Michelle, my veteran son is getting the much needed help he deserves. She has guided us through the whole Marchman Act process. My son is now receiving the CORRECT help for his condition. I am so grateful that Michelle has helped save my son's life. The staff at Larkin were all very professional and compassionate. They were very well organized and the facility was very clean.”
