What patients say on Google

“We had our first appointment today, and overall it was a very positive experience. The psychiatrist took his time with my dad, listened carefully, showed genuine concern, and really seemed to care about everything that has been going on. He was kind, patient, and never made us feel rushed. Doctors like these are hard to come by no a days! The only downside was that the medication wasn't sent in immediately after the appointment, so we are still waiting for it to be sent. I sent a msg through the portal to his nurse for an update. I understand that may be a normal part of the process, so hoping they send it soon. All that to say, the quality of care we received from the doctor was excellent, and we left feeling heard and hopeful. We are grateful for the time and attention he gave my dad and would definitely recommend him!!”

“I just had my intake session with Dr. Foster today and it went really well! He asked insightful questions that made me feel confident he was really looking to understand my relationship with medication and what I was looking for from them. He asked me if there was anything he didn’t ask that he needed to know, which I thought was great. I expressed some hesitation in owning my diagnoses and he was really validating about that and explained how the tests I took could accurately confirm my diagnosis. I voiced my concerns and some lowkey distrust with medication and even the entire health system at large and he met me where I was at, was real about his agreement, but also helped level set expectations for how treatment with medication could work for me. We even talked about racial biases in medical studies and how that could impact the care I received and he wasn’t at all dismissive about it. All of this meant we needed extra time and he took that time calmly. I never felt rushed. My experience with the front desk staff was minimal because I did my paperwork beforehand online. But the updates to my medication went through at the pharmacy that same day which was nice and it was easy to schedule the next appointment. They also let me take the second appointment remotely for my convenience. Note: I asked my doc for a referral on 12/11 and this intake session happened on 3/10. I wasn’t needing urgent relief from any bad side effects from what I’ve been taking, I was managing it well, and have lots of therapeutic support. I sometimes lagged on my next steps to starting treatment, but I didn’t fall through the cracks. They didn’t check up on me to make sure I was doing my part, they were simply responsive when I did, so the pace felt natural to me.”

“We have seen Dr. Foster and his team for many years and have had nothing but positive experiences. Appointment times are met promptly, and any nurse calls/messages are answered as soon as possible. I highly recommend this clinic. We have never been met with anything but kindness and professionalism.”

“Absolutely horrifying experience. I was told by a few doctors to go see Dr. Lance Foster because he is a good psychiatrist. However, whoever is running his office obviously doesn’t know the deffiniton of mental health disorders, clearly. When I first called, I told them I was severely struggling with anxiety and depression, which is nothing new for me. I was very honest about how I was doing, and the receptionist (who worked the morning of Oct 3), judged me and told me “it sounded like I needed to go to the ER or nearest mental health institution.” I told her I was not suicidal, but explained to her that I have a pretty bad chemical imbalance that I’m admitting to and wanting to fix rapidly. To show how eager I was to see Dr. Foster based on word of mouth, I went to the office to do my new patient paperwork in person. They waited a week to call me, which was today. The “new patient coordinator” who supposedly reviews the charts, (NAMED SHAWN) called me to let me know they would not see me as a client!!!!! She told me they were not going to be able to help me or get me scheduled, as she has reviewed my chart and implied I was too bad off for them to treat. How do you make that assumption without letting me come see the doctor I was referred to see by several people? I have anxiety and depression that is obviously not being managed correctly and asked for help. Instead of helping me, I was judged and discriminated against. I was denied help before the process of getting help even began. Who in the world works in the department of mental health to help people and treats people like that? I responded to her and said “that’s okay, I got into someone today at Psychology and Counseling Associates who were very accommodating to me, took me seriously, got me in quick, and were very nice to me.” She replied back, “I’m glad you’re getting the help you need.” I’m sorry are you a doctor Shawn? Why do you work in the mental health field? And how do you have a job in the field judging patients who are asking for help and discriminating against people with mental health issues when your job is to get them appointments so they can see the psychiatrist? I never got to meet the psychiatrist that I heard was amazing. Shame on you. I decided to write this review because my sister has actually tried to kill herself 4 times. 2 of the times infront of me. Do you know how traumatizing that is? If Shawn would have talked to her like that or someone else who actually is suicidal, she may be the reason they do it. That’s why people write reviews to warn the next person from going through a bad experience they have endured. I am so upset today about this. Mental health is so important to me and I’m not sure why people work in the field if they don’t know the true definition of mental health disorders. To top it off, I called back and asked who called me? The receptionist told me Shawn. I asked to be transferred to her so I could ask what was her reason for discriminating against me and to ask who was her boss? Of course, she did not answer. But to make it worse, I called the office back twice and they ignored my call!!!!!!! Who in the hell is running this “medical practice”?! I hope the doctor reads this because word of mouth is how I got referred here. I did call my lawyer and she told me she’s happy to call the office, but first write a review.”
