How likely are you to recommend Jamaica Hospital Medical Center Psychiatry?
What patients say on Google
“I was recently a patient in the psychiatric unit at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. During my stay, an approximately 60 years old male patient repeatedly approached me in ways that made me uncomfortable and unsafe. He held my hand, stood near my room, and frequently followed me around the unit over several days. I reported this behavior to staff, but I do not feel adequate steps were taken to address my concerns or help me feel safe. I am requesting that this complaint be documented and reviewed. There may also be security camera footage from approximately May 15–18 that could help verify these incidents if recordings are still available.”
“Do not go to this place they give me wrong medication to take and feel like they doing it correctly and the people there play games with me when I ask one of the therapist that I don’t know but should of helped me out with my depression and lock the door and told me to get out of her office and play tactics with me they always treat me with disrespect I Been there twice when I was pregnant they try to get rid of me fast discharge me fast while I was still Need to get treatment I recommend check you location and look at the rating cuz they mess with me they got the worst rating they bully me took my t shirt I wanna wear t shirt there, and they keep getting me different medication and they got the worst security either looking mean all that the food is making me sick there bathroom is not clean at all because I come to nyc from another and live nyc for five years and from the beginning they treat me really mean they are not need to be open closed this mental facility we need better people real ones”
“The staff is accusatory and combative. They will find reason and move forward on issues with no discussion or evidence. I don't know what their job is like, but I do know you have patient rights and civilian rights. Regardless they will write whatever it is they feel like writing about you. Any disagreement or act of compliant will be taken as violence. Speak only on camera, they are waiting for the performative opportunity to flinch in fear.”
“I was admitted here involuntarily. They will keep you as long as they can for the max insurance payout. I was not suicidal or exhibiting serious behavior at all. I was yelled at by nurses and saw them yelling at mentally vulnerable patients who were in psychosis. It was sickening. If you go here, ask for a crayon and a notebook and document the time each incident happens so you'll have timestamps for camera footage. I wish I would have done that. A male staff member walked into my room without knocking when I could have been changing (I'm female). He didn't even acknowledge me and nonchalantly let out a loud burp as if to let me know he didn't care I was there and went to go check something in my bathroom. It was degrading. A patient urinated on the floor and staff took old bedsheets from the hamper and used those to soak it up. Once the urine was dried onto the sheets, it was picked up and placed on the radiator where patients sometimes eat their food.”
