What patients say on Google

“Jessica is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to ADHD, focus, anxiety, and overall mental wellness. Her experience and expertise are so apparent in the way she approaches these concerns. She is thoughtful and has a strong understanding of each patient’s individual needs. IN Focus is such a valuable resource for anyone in the Indianapolis or Carmel area looking for knowledgeable support!!”

“Dr Walsh has been outstanding. I had just moved from California to the Indianapolis area, and I was still able to see her the same week for my first appointment, which was a huge relief and made the transition much easier. After more than 25 years of dealing with anxiety as an adult, I finally feel like we are addressing the actual root cause instead of just chasing symptoms or trying medications one at a time through trial and error. I think autism & ADHD was a major part of that picture, and for the first time I felt heard and comprehended during the evaluation process. That alone was incredibly validating. Just as important: I finally feel like I am on the correct medication, and I feel more hopeful and confident about treatment than I have in years. Dr Walsh has the patience for complicated things, and that is rare to find in doctors. Follow-up appointments have been easy to schedule, and she has been professional, thoughtful, compassionate, and extremely easy to talk to. I am very grateful to have found her and highly recommend her.”

“Let me preface this review by saying that I hate that I am having to write it, but I think it's important to share the negative experience I had with this practice. During my most recent appointment with Jessica Walsh, I was scolded like a damn child because I had the audacity to do some research on my own. God forbid I might want to take an active role in my own healthcare and treatment. God forbid I might want to be informed about what I was going through, and what the medications that were being prescribed to me might do. God forbid. Never once did I try to influence Jessica's treatment plan because of the research I had done. I was keeping an open mind, even in light of a very poor experience I had with some medication. I simply wanted to be informed, be able to ask questions in an educated manner, and keep an eye on what was happening with my care. Which, I might add, its a good thing that I did. Because Jessica prescribed me a secondary medication that, per my GeneSight test, would have a "Significant Gene-Drug Interaction" for me. *I* caught that, not Jessica— and I only happened to catch it by chance. But *I* caught it, not her. She prescribed me something she later admitted I should not take, but only after *I* caught that it was in my GeneSight with a significant interaction warning. Additionally, Jessica seemed extremely distracted and unfocused during most of my appointments. Given the high hourly rate she charges, I don't think it's unfair for me or any other patient to demand her undivided attention. She apologized during one appointment for being especially distracted that day due to some employee-related issue within the practice that she was dealing with. She was also significantly late to nearly every appointment I had with her, in some cases by as much as 20+ minutes. This often lead to appointments feeling rushed. I have to wonder if these constant distractions are what lead to her incorrectly prescribing me the above mentioned medication that *I* caught and she didn't. If that was the case — what other mistakes had she or could she be making with *my* care and treatment? Now maybe you’ll understand why I was doing my own research and why I was so damn offended by being treated like a child and scolded for having done so. On a personal level, I thought Jessica seemed nice. She was relatively easy to talk to which I very much appreciated. I struggled for a long time to start this process before finally making my initial appointment, and finding someone who was easy to talk to was a huge relief. As a medical professional, however, I would not recommend IN Focus First and Jessica Walsh to anyone looking for evaluation and treatment of OCD, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression or any other mental health conditions. I hate that I'm having to leave this negative review. Even though I had a very poor experience with my first prescribed medication, I did not blame her. I understood that these things take time and sometimes you have to go through a few medications before finding the one that works for you. Unfortunately I am now in the position where I've wasted four months of my time and nearly fifteen-hundred dollars ($1,460 to be exact not including GeneSight testing and medications) with nothing to show for it, and needing to start all over again with a new practitioner elsewhere. This entire process was insanely frustrating to say the least, and I hope this review can spare others from experiencing the same issues that I did.”

“Read this review first! I’m not just a patient; I’m also an upper-level healthcare provider. With IN Focus First in Lafayette, Indiana, my children and I have received exceptional psychiatry care and mental health outcomes. I no longer struggle with mood instability, which I have chronically struggled with. My daughter's anxiety and depression are no longer a concern to her through a targeted medication management plan. My son has struggled with severe ADHD and autism traits, but he maintains stability resulting in recently gained employment. Jessica Walsh, PMHNP employs a vast knowledge of medical psychiatry, integrative approaches, and evidence-based pharmacology combined with a genuinely warm, therapeutic communication style. Unlike other “excellent” providers we’ve tried previously (my son has struggled with his mental health for years without progress), Jessica: *Actively listens to symptoms and needs. I feel heard and seen during my appointments. *Takes the time to actually counsel you, completely avoiding the typical 10-minute, rush-you-out-the-door psych office experience. *Uses team and patient-focused decision making to assist with guiding treatment plans Beyond her excellent care, the practice logistics make managing our family's needs simple: * Easy online appointment scheduling * Secure patient portal messaging between appointments * Accessible same-week appointments when needed * Consistently helpful, supportive staff who go beyond expectations I recommend IN Focus First without reservation—especially for families seeking responsive, evidence-based care. The results have genuinely changed our lives. Genuinely, CW, Family Nurse Practitioner”
