How likely are you to recommend Houston Adult Psychiatry?
What patients say on Google
“I have my appointments with Gwen, and she is always upbeat, kind, and accommodating. I truly appreciate her care and professionalism. Unfortunately, the front desk staff who answer the phones have consistently been quite rude and unapproachable. For a psychiatry practice, where many patients may already struggle with anxiety or other mental health challenges, the tone of the first point of contact matters tremendously. A more compassionate and patient-centered approach at reception would make a significant difference.”
“As a patient at Houston Adult Psychiatrist for roughly 2 years, I wouldn’t recommend. Both customer service and care are lacked when interacting with the psychiatrists and office staff. Additionally, paperwork requests are often ignored or delayed. Not to mention, I noticed a change in my psychiatrists’ attitude towards me once I requested her to complete my STD paperwork. Initially, my psychiatrist recommended 3 weeks of leave. When I asked her to complete paperwork for an extension on my leave, she replied, “You do know you have to go back to work at some point.” I have worked a corporate job since I was 19 and I provide for my siblings and parents. Of course, I am aware that I have to go back to work. When I continued to detail the struggles I was having at the job, I mentioned the heavy travel requirements. She replied, “You didn’t know you were going to have to travel before you took the job.” Again, I was surprised to be met with this accusatory line of questioning from the psychiatrist that I had been seeing for the past 2 years. The heavy travel resulted in me sleeping in airports, catching 7:00AM flights, and landing at 11:00PM or later due to delays. I think frequently flying under those conditions would weigh on anyone. Nonetheless, this type of insensitive commentary from the psychiatrist continued due to my leave extension request. I decided after that session, I needed to find a more professional psychiatrist. However, I will say one positive thing about H.A.S is they accept insurance. The after insurance cost was less than $100 per session.”
“Can't recommend Houston Adult Psychiatry enough. Britney literally changed my mother's life. My mom has suffered with extreme mental health issues her entire life and was always hesitant to seek professional help or get on medication. Britney handled her with such kindness, care, and compassion and after ONE visit I finally recognize my mom again. She has also been such a huge help to me in managing my ADHD and PMDD. It can feel scary sometimes to admit that you need help managing your mental health, but it doesn't have to be when there are providers like Britney are out there. She is truly one of a kind and I'm so grateful to have found her.”
“Please go anywhere else if you need a psychiatrist! This place is dangerous and I worry for anyone who needs help and depends on Dr Barber. This was my second appointment that the doctor didn't listen to me at at all. Last time I told him I was depressed and he told me to just keep taking my ADHD medicine. At that point I went to my PCP and got depression medicine. I have had a lot going on at work and home lately and decided to give Dr Barber another try and have been struggling with anxiety and having vivid dreams every night which leaves me exhausted. He totally disregarded everything I said again. I have been doing everything I can to manage my anxiety but I explained that exercise, ECT has not been enough and requested anxiety medication. He prescribed ADHD medicine and a depression medicine to help sleep ( I am no longer depressed). The medication was so seadating that I couldn't do anything the next day. I had already scheduled an appointment with another psychiatrist and she couldn't even evaluate me because I was so out of it.”
