What patients say on Google

“Our family is incredibly grateful for the outstanding care my dad received at Henry Ford Rochester Hospital after his total knee replacement. Because of his age, he required inpatient rehabilitation following surgery, and the team exceeded our expectations. A special thank you to Nuha, his physical therapist, who did an amazing job getting him up, moving, and encouraging him every step of the way. Her skill, patience, and compassion made a tremendous difference in his recovery. We also want to recognize his nurse, Riva, who provided exceptional care. We spent most of each day at the hospital with my dad, and when we had to leave in the evenings, we always felt reassured knowing Riva was caring for him. She kept us informed, reached out whenever he needed us, and treated our dad with genuine kindness and respect. Recovering from major surgery at 87 years old is no small task, but thanks to this incredible team, our dad had the support he needed to begin his recovery. We can’t thank Nuha, Riva, and the entire staff enough for their professionalism, compassion, and dedication. They made a difficult time much easier for our family.”

“I wound up at HFH emergency while on a trip to Detroit, and I can’t say l enough good things about the staff here, especially the nurses. It is so scary to be hospitalized away from home, and every single person here was kind, empathetic, explained each and every procedure in great detail, and made me feel like I wasn’t alone. On what I hoped would be my final day, they were all hands on deck to give me the best chance of making my flight home! My nurse just kept calling and texting the whole team to ensure that I was able to be cleared to fly and discharged in time. Thank you ALL so much for caring for me during such a scary time, and cheering for me when I made it on my flight! The HFH nurses all deserve heaps of praise (and a raise!!)”

“The lack of coherency between doctors and staff has proven detrimental to my health. Letting a patient sit with an active infection the ENTIRE day while being told - falsely - that they were to be seen by another department to address it is incredibly destructive of trust, health, and medicine. I had a few great staff members my first night - Nurses Hannah and Mark - but I found myself running into countless hiccups. Incorrect discharge papers. Documented diagnostics that never happened. Doctors coughing in my face unmasked. People touching my infected wound without gloves. Being transferred to a room with a dirty sink - that I literally gloved up and cleaned myself. Having my care delayed an entire day because of who knows why - "waiting on the doctor." Empty promises for 12 hours, all while I sit with sutures locking an infection in - sutures I was told would be taken out HOURS ago. I'm not sure where it became normal to lie to patients about their treatment plan for 8+ hours, milk the clock, and prioritize gossip over patient care, but I have no trust in the medical "community" after this. Stop telling people help is coming when it isn't; help when you say you will. Stop treating people's lives like checklists. Pay attention. I could have potentially avoided this ENTIRE hospital stay if doctors had taken me seriously on day 1. I was pushed off, dismissed, denied pain management (so I "could know when the infection is severe"), and denied proper care. I was under observation... and nobody checked on me. I had to clean my own wounds. I was not provided wound care upon discharge. I was left alone, panicked, infected, and told to "you just need to go to bed." If I hadn't fiercely advocated for myself - causing significant stress and delaying the healing process - I may have lost my hand. I will never trust this facility with my care or anyone I care for. I was completely let down by the medical SYSTEM. I was systematically shut down and denied the very care I was there for, after I quite literally begged from a hospital bed. I hope each "professional" who dismissed me is aware of the choices they made. How dare anyone medically neglect someone and make the patient feel like it was there fault. Each person who took an oath and disregarded it during my "care" should feel deeply ashamed. I wrote down each name. Attached are photos of how I stayed while I awaited a doctor that was comfortable with letting me sit in that condition. Infected dog bite wounds are an emergency, and I was treated like an inconvenient, nagging, anxious problem while I fought the infection and secondary cellulitis - possibly from receiving sutures when I should not have. I could have lost my hand, and you didn't even care. You treated me without decency or humanity. A SINCERE thank you to Dr. Merhavy, Dr. Cox, and Dr. Slim (through the Family Medicine department). You three took me seriously and provided essential continuation of care that gave me relief, hope, and actual medicine.”

“Iam not giving the care I had there recently the ome star. It is the financial assistance department. All my Dr s are down that way, while I live in Thumb. I called regarding Financial assistance, paperwork finally got to me, they wanted everything in two days. I called back and a rude lady, said you are out of our financial assistance area. So basically if you dont live in Detroit, and surrounding areas, but you see Dr's down there you are screwed. Now what makes it even weirder, is they have locations in Grand Blanc, and farther north. Guess it is some kind of prejudice. Npw when I got to billing department, well that was another thing, lady was very nice. But computer said they wanted payments of 200$ per month. HAHA. If I could have paid that, I would not have been looking for help. Ok so they did set up a payment plan that I will be paying until I die. The other thing there billing, again not this lady, but bills in general. They sand on the 30th of month and want like in 20 days, ok people on social security cant always do that. What I have found out about all these big hospitals buying up everything it is just about money, So any tests I will have closer to home, if they do them up here in the country. I know they have financial assistance here. Sorry so long, but your financial assistance program there to help people wont if you dont live in Detroit or surrounding areas. What about locations farther north. The program sucks. If it was not for the Dr's I trust down there i would not be back. This is also not the rochester hospital itself. It is rhe central financial assistance area. MUCH BETTER WHEN IT WAS CRITTENON.”
