She hid things very well and were initially shocked to learn the extent of her issues. Of course she was initially reluctant to attend. There was fear, worry and lots of uncertainty on all sides. We wondered if this was the right decision. Little did we know, Guardian Recovery would be the life-changing experience she so desperately needed. From the moment we walked through the doors (the facility is lovely, clean and in a nice location), the staff welcomed us with such warmth and compassion that we immediately felt hope. These are professionals who truly understand adolescents and their unique challenges. They are not just highly competent, but also deeply committed to the well-being of each individual in their care. Our daughter was able to slowly build trust with them, despite her initial hesitation. The staff’s dedication, patience, and understanding made all the difference. Over time, we witnessed a gradual and complete turnaround in our daughter. The environment at Guardian Recovery provided her with the safety and structure she needed to begin working through her struggles, facing fears, understanding the disease model, learning coping skills, and communicating openly. Each staff member was not only a mentor but a source of strength and guidance (for us as parents too!). They equipped her with the life skills that have transformed her outlook on herself and her future. She learned how to cope with difficult emotions, communicate more effectively, and make healthier choices. Most importantly, she regained her sense of self-worth, hope and empowerment. There is no graduation from this as they say – it is one day at a time. However, today, our daughter is a new person – confident, committed to working on herself, and so much better prepared to navigate the challenges ahead.
