“URGENT: please be careful sending anyone here. My son just got out of St. David's South ICU and was treated for Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome and almost died. Georgetown Behavioral has his medical records. My son called me and told me they wanted to put him on a medication that has the exact same properties he almost died from. WARNING: If something happens to him because you never looked at his medical records... Its on you. Georgetown Behavioral has the red flags, but are just throwing "try this" or "try this" at him. I'm so upset I could scream. A ROI has been signed for me by the patient, yet I still can't get in touch with anyone. The phone just rings and rings no matter if you're calling a specific floor or even calling for the operator. It's frustrating especially with me being several hours away and can't talk to anyone. Please fix this. I even left a message for a return call, and still no call back from anyone..no nurse, psychiatrist NO ONE. Our mental health system is broken. 😟 😢 😭 Seems to me it's all about money. As a matter of fact, I KNOW it is. I'll update my message if I get a chance to talk to someone. But for now...I wouldn't send my dog there. As the Caregiver we should have to right especially with a Release of Information signed. 😡”
“I am writing this review to express my profound disappointment and distress regarding the lack of administrative support at Georgetown Behavioral Hospital. My experience has been marked by a failure to communicate and complete essential FMLA documentation and work release forms, which has directly jeopardized my employment status. I have exhausted every avenue to resolve this, calling the facility daily and even waiting in their lobby for hours on multiple occasions, attempting to move the process along. Despite my persistence, I was met with obstruction and indifference The situation is worsened by the total lack of compassion shown by the staff. When I inquired about the status of my paperwork, the medical records clerk, Debra, appeared pleased to inform me that the facility would not assist me because the attending physician, Dr. Philip Leon, was 'uncomfortable' doing so. It is devastating to encounter healthcare professionals who are supposed to be advocates for their patients, yet choose not to provide basic administrative support when it is within their power to do so. Because of this severe negligence, I have been forced to file a formal grievance with the facility and a formal complaint with the Texas Medical Board. This is not merely an administrative inconvenience; it is a failure that puts my health insurance at risk. Without it, I will be unable to afford the therapy, psychiatric care, and medication I require, forcing me to stop my treatment abruptly. I am sharing my experience to warn others about the lack of care and professionalism at this facility. To see my well-being and livelihood treated with such indifference is disheartening. I strongly caution anyone who relies on timely administrative support to be aware of these issues. I am sharing my experience to warn others about the lack of care and professionalism at this facility. If you can go anywhere to seek help and care, do so. This is not the facility you or your loved ones should turn to.”
“I was brought in against my will, hospital staff told my partner his calls would be screened for saying I had been brought in against my will. I was never given an answer on my discharge, it took over 24 hours from when I was brought in to custody for me to see a doctor, staff refused to help me contact a lawyer, I was not provided with appropriate clothing, I was without my glasses for over 24 hours and when my friend delivered them instead of being immediately brought to me hospital stafff played with and tried on my glasses (and bragged/joked to me about it the following morning). I was not given dignitary, I was not treated as mentally competent. I was not allowed to be honest about my situation (Taken against my will) I was told crying or showing any sign of discomfort would lengthen my stay and prevent me from going home. I was not allowed privacy and had to traverse populated hallways wearing torn/tearing tissue paper clothing and not provided adequate underwear. This place should not be legally allowed to do any of this, this was a traumatizing and horrific situation, any person in their right mind would find themselves in a mental health crisis due to this hospital.”
“What happened to my husband at this facility was beyond unacceptable—it was dangerous. After being admitted following a car accident, he was immediately sedated and placed under their care. Despite repeated requests to transfer him to a more appropriate facility, they kept him on an extended hold without justification. The most alarming issue was their complete disregard for his established psychiatric treatment. My husband has been stable on the same antipsychotic medication for over a decade. Instead of continuing that care or consulting his existing psychiatrist (who actively tried to contact them), the doctor abruptly discontinued his medication and prescribed a mood stabilizer that he has a documented history of reacting badly to. This decision caused severe and entirely preventable symptoms. To make matters worse, both I and his psychiatrist repeatedly attempted to contact the facility and were ignored. There was no coordination of care, no review of his medical history, and no accountability. The most terrifying moment came when I was on the phone with my husband while he was clearly experiencing a medical emergency. I called admissions, the operator, and the unit continuously for over 30 minutes before anyone finally checked on him. By that point, he had to be rushed to the ER. After receiving treatment, he was sent right back to the same facility where this all occurred. This was not just poor care—this was a complete failure to prioritize patient safety, listen to family, or follow basic medical standards. No one should have to fight this hard to be heard while their loved one is in danger. I strongly urge anyone considering this facility to think carefully and advocate aggressively if you have no other choice.”
