What patients say on Google
“**WOMEN - reconsider going to this facility.** Probably not a good idea to stay at this facility if you are unable to confront uncomfortable sexual harassment directly at the root. It is NOT easy to speak up, especially when— in my case— you’ve been hospitalized for suspected schizoaffective disorder and extreme delusions + hallucinations. You’re going to have to convince some of the staff members to do anything at all if you’re “cornered” so to speak. First time inpatient at any behavioral health ward, I’m doing my best to rate this as fairly as possible. I’m going to preface this and say: Yes, obviously a lack of funding affects the quality of this facility. Needs more janitors, space for patients to move around, and more thoughtful inspections. 1.) Not enough food was provided. (Lack of funding/extremely rude kitchen staff. Terminate that contract IMMEDIATELY.) 2.) You have to ask for everything, including things you don’t know exist. 3.) They didn’t have enough hospital pants or socks at the facility to accommodate people every day. 4.) Laundry was thrown about carelessly at night. Lost one of my shirts because of this. 5.) I wasn’t even made aware of what belongings I had prior to intake. I came from the ER, and live over 90 minutes away. 6.) I was never given my extra clothes and didn’t even know *what* clothes were given to me. 7.) In order to get anyone to act about a man bigger than all of the staff causing every single person in the building to be uncomfortable, I had to make a scene, call home during what I’d describe as pure chaos, and basically snitch that there was a patient (no joke) screaming up and down the halls at night making jokes about raping me. This went on pretty much every day until the man was discharged. 8.) One of the female nurse techs (pink scrubs) asked me if my hair was “curly everywhere.” I’m not petty enough to file a grievance for such a thing— You should really think before you speak next time. It was after I confronted a fellow patient pretty outwardly about how he was being creepy (later apologized for this because I was so on edge due to, again, being sexually harassed.) As much as I am flattered, me being outwardly a lesbian with a girlfriend does not give anyone permission to make comments like that. I don’t really care how attractive or unattractive you are, or how I am. It’s unwanted, period. 9.) Not sure the shower grates have ever been deep cleaned, or cleaned at all. 10.) Couldn’t see for the entire first day due to not having my glasses. For reference: I cannot see the largest letter on the eye chart without them. ENDLESS THANK YOU TO THE NURSE WHO GOT THEM FOR ME. I was “pink slipped” but I should not have to convince the staff, fighting tooth and nail that this was completely a situation of sexual harassment, and the patient in question was pushing the entire facility beyond its limits. - Gage, Michelle, older nurse that talked about 70s movies with me and another patient (so sorry I didn’t catch your name!!) and the nurse who had to take my pulse twice. Yes, my 140 BPM measurement was in fact a result of your “caring touch” hahaha. I hope that’s a funny bar story for both of us. You all deserve more money!! Same to the Recess Techs. I have to give a shoutout to Lily for also sharing lots of time with me discussing mental health, it was genuinely eye opening and I came home with so much of a healthier perspective on my life dealing with trauma. To those I listed: Thank you for being kind and adamant about how important safety was in the facility. The nurse tech with glasses and black hair usually in an half-bun also took a lot of time out of her shift to sit down with me and talk through the sexual harassment situation. It caused me to not sleep for 2 nights in a row out of a REASONABLE paranoia that’d I’d be raped at night. The most caring staff is the reason why I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1, because without them, I’m not sure I would have been taken seriously, and could have been written off as a delusional schizophrenic, thus my words hold no merit.”
“DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY MEMBER HERE!!!! This facility housed and I do mean housed my son for 3 days and did not provide treatment. They did not look at his medical records, dropped my son off at a location they were told he was not able to return to and then falsified his discharge papers to show they dropped him off at a different location. The case worker suggested my son be probated and Dr. Okon refused. They gave him 1 mg of medication that was already listed in his chart as unresponsive to his symptoms, I would assume just to say they gave him something. They totally disregarded the medication he was supposed to be on that was in his chart. They would not provide me any information although I have medical power of attorney and would not speak to his treating physician to get a continuity of care. The staff was rude and unhelpful as if this is not an already difficult situation for the families. I will be filing a complaint with the attorney general because this is not a place where people who need help should ever go.”
“I stayed at this facility for a week. I felt like they weren’t doing enough to help us. It was a quick “group” = getting to color and listen to music, & watching tv the rest of the day. can’t forget the helpful snack during the days too. I will say, Lillian the rec therapy girl was amazing loved her. Amy, Billie I really liked them. Will never stay here again lol!”
“My 99 year old father as been up there 14 days. I have power of attorney over him and they have not reached out to me about any progress or updates on his meds they put him on. I don't even know what meds they. Put him on. I've called over 14 times all I get is we will relay the message to whom it is I need to speak to. Never no call back.. never let your loved ones be sent here!”
