How likely are you to recommend Garden District Mental Health?
What patients say on Google
“Dr. Major and Dr. Lauren have been nothing short of amazing. Confronting some of the most difficult times in my life with care and ease; without judgement or dismay. I couldn't ask for a more gifted prescriber or a more wonderful therapist. They came to me highly recommended and haven't let me down. So glad I, and my family, found this office.”
“Yeah don’t go to Dr. Major. I had an unparalleled horrible experience. I thought it was my fault and that I had masked too hard at first. I was treated badly by Major in my fragile mental state probably due to my anatomy. I tried the best I could to talk to him but he didn't even give me the time to tell him anything about what was happening with me. Had he bothered to have a conversation he'd have learned i'm not even a cis female. Not that it is even ok to be that way around people who are. Also, I was charged above the rate listed on their website for my first appointment by this doctor in specific. I was kinda greeted by him at the stairs, he then moved aside for me to go up the stairs before him. I was visibly in a dress. This made me deeply uncomfortable and anxious. Then when he didn't attempt to actually have a conversation with me when we were sat down about my symptoms or history. He didn't attempt to get my story at all. He seemed to have pre-judged me already probably thought I was a "hysterical female." I attempted to talk about things pertaining to why I was there but was interrupted multiple times. After so many interruptions that were stated in a very mocking tone I had a panic attack. He simply didn't listen not one bit. He further made the panic attack worse by saying he could help with "the crying thing." I thought instead of judging a psychologist asks you about what you are feeling and listens and asks you about your family history and what medications have helped and what ones have not are the first steps typically in a professional setting. He instead did none of that and was more interested in asking me how old I was as to him I looked much younger than I was, 22 years old in his mind. He has no problem interrupting me and treating what I was trying to say about my mental health as unimportant and laughable in the place of telling me how young he thought I looked instead because that genuinely seemed more important to him. He did not care to listen about what meds worked which ones didn't and my full list of concerns about side effects which I could not even share with him because he did not listen while I tried to speak about it in full. Ignoring and interrupting anything at all I started to say about medications he proceeded to attempt to get me to be on a new experimental? drug for a disorder I didn't have and he couldn't have even diagnosed me with as he asked me nothing about myself and my mental health or even if I had any physical health issues. I was born with a cardiovascular condition they found when I was younger and if I had just taken whatever meds he wanted to push on me like he wanted to, it could have potentially ended my life. I have to be extremely careful with what medications I take. Given I could not even get a full thought out to this guy as he did not let me tell him anything at all he would have never known I had a condition. I do not doubt that he would have discounted my heart condition and mocked it too if I was able to even tell him about it. I have been off my of psych meds for months and am very clearly mentally effected by this but despite actually knowing at least the first part of this, he didn't care and didn't care and he that pushed me straight into a panic attack with his lack of actually doing his job. I thought this guy has a degree in psychopharmacology? He literally should have known how messed up my CNS was after not being on my meds and how fragile I am mentally and how much worse my actual disorders would be due to this. It took me a lot to show up for this appointment to try and get help. He doesn't listen nor care, he is rude and disrespectful, he is pre-judgmental, and he is neglectful. He seems sketchy on top of that. Don't really know if he was told to push that new drug on people or what but I was not the one. Receptionist seems like she is genuinely nice though. Edited this because I spent my entire day distraught over what happened here and I wanted to provide a full picture and why it was bad enough to leave a review.”
“Went for an ADHD evaluation a few months ago. Dr Madison and her team we’re well informed, answered all my questions in a caring manner and we’re quick to respond to any communication emails. Worth every penny you’ll pay .”
