What patients say on Google

“The healthcare providers and medical assistants at this practice are outstanding. Unfortunately, the front-office experience was so poor that it overshadows the quality of the clinical care. The receptionist/front office manager was consistently rude, abrasive, and unprofessional. Combined with the overwhelming scent of air fresheners throughout the office, the environment felt unwelcoming and uncomfortable. It is disappointing because the medical team deserves better representation. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice and would seek care elsewhere.”

“When Dr. Timothy was there he was fantastic and I loved dealing with him. I called today to see if I could get an appointment today or tomorrow and was told because I hadn’t been seen in over 6 months I had to fill out a new patient form and wait a couple of weeks. Meanwhile I’m having a mental health emergency and needed to restart my medication. Whatever. I call another doctors office that can get me in on the same day, so I call back to ask for my OWN medical records to be sent to me and “Patty” was very rude and said I could not receive those due to HIPPA laws and certainly not today. Great to see how they treat patients with critical mental illnesses. Will never be returning and do not recommend This place at all after Dr. Timothy left.”

“The office staff is something left to be desired. Of the two visits I had there, I liked Dr. Markey. She was very helpful and I liked her approach. However, the communication in that office is horrendous. I had started a new medication and not even a week in I started having serious GI issues. I called with concerns and I was told Dr. Markey would get back to me. She didn't. I called again and was told she was busy and she would get back to me. She never did. I was worried I was having a reaction and no one had the time of day to talk to me about it. I called with other questions too. Again I was told she would get back to me. Weeks went by and no one got back to me about anything. I didn't come for awhile because of my serious GI issues and they eventually called to ask if I was coming back. I brought up the fact that no one has gotten back to me about my questions, and asked if I still owed anything from my last visit. She didn't know and would call me back. She never did. I don't know if messages aren't getting through to Dr. Markey or the billing person or if everyone is just too busy that they can't be bothered. Either way, I feel like I'm not important. On top of that, when I started, I was told I would be called before having my card charged. I didn't know how much my insurance would cover, if any of it, and then suddenly I was billed for $300 with no warning which caused me to overdraft. When I called and complained I was told there was no note on my file to call. And I said I wanted to be called next time. I also wanted the option to use care credit if I didn't have enough in my bank account. I was told they didn't take care credit anymore, after I had been told when I started that they did. Despite that, my card was charged yet again without getting a call first. This is completely unacceptable and I will be looking for someone else.”

“This review is hard for me to write but I've been so disrespected by the people who work in the front or who I've spoken with on the phone that I feel I have no choice. I will try to be concise in this review. I'm a 33 year old person who is on disability for both mental and physical reasons. I've had mental health issues that increased and 2022 and subsequently was found with a brain lesion at the end of 2024. I feel this review is needed to advocate for patient rights and healthcare. I love Dr. Markey and the treatment from her. I've been treated horribly by the front desk staff for unclear reasons. I'm not a difficult person or patient, any one would attest to that but I'm learning to stand up for myself in a respectful way. I started Medicare in March of 2025. Everything was fine until I came in for a saliva gene test and Dawn who works in the office was insistent on Medicare is always primary. I didn't think anything of it until this past week. I was told I had to pay $150.00 instead of the $0.00 my current primary insurance Aetna was covering. I was confused on why my primary insurance was no longer valid with them. I called asking questions. Dawn who answered the phone was immediately defensive. "It's been like this for 10 years.", "Medicare is always primary." and "You signed a contract." She refused to let me talk to anyone or ask anyone anything. I clarified with both Medicare and Aetna that Aetna was primary. Dawn is the person who works the front desk, not a coordinator or manager to my knowledge however acted on the authority of one. I'm contacted by the office manager through email. After I've explained my situation and concern for my healthcare, others healthcare and others billing, I was told "I apologize for any misunderstanding you may have had in this situation." I wasn't mistaken. I told them repeatedly Medicare was secondary. The contract I signed said I wouldn't file a claim with Medicare. The contract didn't say my primary insurance wont be taken and you wont process it. I would/will pay what's left. I wasn't given an option. I even asked if they would bill Aetna and I can pay what's left. She said "No.", "They get *dinged*". I have severe anxiety and social anxiety. This has affected my already affected sleep and mind for a week. I needed a sooner appointment but I had anxiety and a feeling I was going to be treated differently when calling. I didn't want to call and speak with Dawn my anxiety was that bad. I had my husband call and someone named Laura/Lauren answered. He asked for a sooner appointment for me as I haven't been able to sleep in at least 4 days to any restorative degree. Her tone was so rude to my husband who was very agreeable with her. He was told no in the most distasteful way that Dr.Markey was the only doctor, that she was going out of town and couldn't see me any sooner. I looked on the website and saw there was another doctor. I called back to ask about the other doctor and was given the same but worse interaction from Laura/Lauren. I finally had enough of their treatment. I spoke about how rude they were. I understood if there wasn't someone else but she didn't need to be so rude about it. She said, "Well I already told your husband.", my response was "Okay, but I had a question." At the end of the conversation I let them know as a previous customer service worker and patient of a psychiatric office that this treatment and attitude was not okay. As I was explaining myself she kept repeating "Megan, Megan, Megan." I'm not sure what position she holds in the office. *update to add* there is a reason they aren't BBB accredited. They care about protecting demeaning office staff, and money, over patients. Dr.Markey also disappointed me in the end and refused to prescribe me any medications and basically told me to suffer. **even more so they wont refill your meds when they make you go see another doctor. Refused to refill my anxiety and palpitation meds probably because of this review until I can see a new doctor.”
