What patients say on Google
“I had a very disappointing experience with this psychiatrist during a medication management appointment. I came in seeking help for worsening panic attacks that have recently returned, including severe physical symptoms such as chest tightness, muscle spasms, and curling of my fingers. Instead of listening to my concerns and reviewing my documented treatment history, the provider repeatedly interrupted me and dismissed medications that I have successfully taken for years with positive results. What was most concerning was the refusal to continue medications that have been stable and life-changing for my ADHD, despite extensive history showing effectiveness. Instead, the doctor pushed multiple alternative medications that I had already explained caused negative physical reactions in the past. It felt as though my lived experience and documented medical history were completely ignored. The provider repeatedly emphasized his 35 years of experience as justification for his decisions, but seemed unwilling to recognize that every patient responds differently to treatment. Mental health care is not one-size-fits-all, and patients should not be treated as though everyone will have identical reactions or outcomes simply because of a provider’s assumptions or personal opinions. Throughout the appointment, I was rarely allowed to speak and often felt talked down to rather than treated as a patient seeking collaborative care. The provider appeared more focused on personal opinions than on reviewing my established treatment history or listening to what I was actually saying. At one point, he even suggested medications with high dependency risks while refusing to continue medications that have safely worked for me for years. Rather than offering solutions, reassurance, or a reasonable transition plan, I was told to seek another provider. The entire interaction felt dismissive, rushed, and lacking empathy. Patients dealing with ADHD and panic disorder deserve to be heard, respected, and treated as active participants in their own care. Sorry but this is the last medical provider I would ever suggest to anyone. Please steer clear!”
“Crying everyday, having panic attacks on vacation, not able to leave my house consistently and sleeping 12+ hours a day from depression and he wouldn’t increase my medicine despite me feeling only 50% better. Told me I needed to exercise to improve my quality of life. Terrible medical provider who doesn’t listen to patients, will talk over you, talk in circles, interrupt you and tell you you’re wrong despite how you feel as the patient.”
“I had an intake and a few follow-up appointments for attention and executive-function concerns. My experience may not reflect everyone’s, but I did not feel heard during my visits. When I tried to explain how these issues were affecting my daily functioning, I felt that my concerns were minimized and compared to normal everyday frustrations. I also felt that my academic and work performance were weighed too heavily against the possibility that I was still struggling in meaningful ways. I appreciate that treatment was started, but I left feeling dismissed and ultimately chose to continue care elsewhere. During my appointments, I felt frequently interrupted and often had difficulty finishing my thoughts. Meaningful barriers affecting my daily life were often dismissed with comments along the lines of “everyone goes through that,” or by references to my intelligence or accomplishments as reasons my functioning could not be significantly impaired. Since finding a provider who listened more closely and took the functional impact seriously, my daily life has improved significantly. I don’t doubt that others may have had positive experiences, and it may simply have not been the right fit for me. Still, for patients seeking help with attention, executive functioning, or similar concerns, I think this is worth noting.”
“Dr. Hernandez spent an hour and forty five minutes with me and he was very thorough. I was extremely impressed with his concern for my well being. I know that I can trust him and that he will do his best to help me recover. I highly recommend him.”
