“While I was here, staff tried to throw away/hide a complaint I submitted after watching a tech assault a patient. I had to rewrite it multiple times before it was filed correctly. The staff would actually call you crazy. They were incredibly unprofessional and didn't talk to the clients in the ward- they were mostly on their phone. This is the kind of place where they joke about giving you a knock-out shot to your face if you are feeling anything other than completely neutral. If you love them, send them somewhere else, for the love of God.”

“I have a relative there now, She call me everyday, we have no problem with this place. they call me whenever they want to know about her, We know she has a bed and food to eat it might not be the best, but she is taking care of. Better then having her on the street making a disaster out of everyone she meets.”

“ELGIN MENTAL HEALTH CENTER The scourge of street drugs and easy availability nation wide has devastated families. The numbers of those that either succumb to these drugs or require long term mental rehabilitation is staggering. A senior citizen veteran and close friend of mine whose family member was admitted to the Elgin Mental Health Center in Chicago, Illinois after an overdose of fentanyl asked if I would be able to obtain information regarding their wellbeing. Aware of the HIPPA laws that prevent the release of any information regarding a patient, I called the hospital to inquire what steps needed to be taken in order to obtain a status report. The facility could not have picked a better representative. Officer Quentin who answered my call listened while I explained my request for procedures necessary to obtain a status report. He explained the HIPPA laws that regulate this type of request in a humanistic and an understanding manner. Considering the number of calls he receives from distraught callers, he truly sought to provide comfort and guidelines while not violating the HIPPA law. I was able to relay those guidelines to my veteran friend. We both looked up the facility on google and was impressed with the short but meaningful mission statement That reads, “ Elgin Mental Health Center provides treatment for relief and restoration of the people we serve. It is a place of hope for the healing of mind, body, and spirit where many find health and happiness again.””
