What patients say on Google

“This place is horrible. If you need actual help, please, never go here. They will laugh in your face and make you feel crazy. When I was there they ignored my requests and kept me on dangerous meds that were hurting me physically and mentally, and when I tried to leave them, no one would take me because of the combination of meds they put me on. As a result I ran out of meds had serious side effects and begged them for help, and they told me to keep my voice down and that they couldn’t help me. Ended up going to the emergency room and they finally helped me. As someone who has suffered immensely with mental health and being understood, as well as not having anyone to help you when you are really desperate, take it from me, ECMC doesn’t care. My interactions were so poor with this office that they had me questioning my own sanity and mental endurance. They will not help you, they do not care, and at this point I think they get some sort of compensation when people can’t be helped by them and have to go to their psych ward 💯 I’m not afraid to say I hate them and will only deal with them when absolutely necessary.”

“Previously I had sent a letter to the CEO and never was even acknowledged by it. I had a mental health crisis and my daughter took me to ECMC to get me a bridge Dose of Xanax because my psychiatrist cut me off all my meds cold turkey. This is the biggest mistake of my life going there. I was put in a room and a nurse came in and took some blood tests from me and never came back for at least 10 hours. All I was asking for was a bridge dose until I got a new doctor( benzodiazepines withdrawal is deadly) after hours of sitting there they decided they wanted me to go to C-pap Previously help Unfortunately they are not letting post my whole complaint..”

“I have a HUGE and serious bone to pick with the main psychiatrist there. Dr. Hanrahan. She put me on Prolixin(Fluphenazine) and it's been making me lose sleep and giving me nightmares and bizarre dreams when I do manage to sleep. She refuses to change my medication. I looked up on Google and it does say that antipsychotic drug gives you nightmares and bizarre dreams and insomnia. She told me it doesn't do any of that and I'm just fine on it. Liar. I missed Thanksgiving dinner with my family thanks to this stupid drug because I have been so dead tired. Not even the melatonin gummies I bought on Amazon are helping. I only get four to six hours of sleep, if that. The last drug she put me on, Haldol, messed up my legs and caused me heart problems, breathing problems, and nausea to the point where I had to go to Buffalo General Hospital to get better and make sure nothing was truly wrong with my heart. Then go to physical therapy to learn how to walk again. It was horrible! I plan on getting a new psychiatrist at a new mental health clinic because the main one here(All the rest are student psychiatrists from UB.) is useless and just cares about money. She doesn't care if I get sick off of these antipsychotic drugs and she doesn't listen to me. If I'm hospitalized again because of exhaustion, I'm suing her. She ought to be ashamed of herself! DON'T COME HERE FOR MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT!!!”

“If I could give 0 stars I would. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR MENTAL HEALTH OR YOUR LIVELY HOOD ONCE YOU LEAVE THE COUNSELORS OFFICE. IF THE PATIENT DOES NOT HAVE FAMILY, THEY WILL END UP ON THE STREETS, LOOSE THEIR DISABILITY ETC BECAUSE RECORD REQUESTS ARE NOT HONORED IN A TIMELY OR PROFESSIONAL MANNER. UNPROFESSIONAL CARE. THEY FOCUS ON GETTING THEIR PAPERWORK DONE, NOT ACTUAL DISEASE MANAGEMENT AND DO NOT GIVE THE PATIENT OPTIONS TO SWITCH MEDS THEY DON'T LIKE OR DON'T WORK. THEY ARE NOT A PATIENT CENTERED PRACTICE, MORE LIKE A BUNCH OF PEPPLE WORKING IN A FIELD THEY WISH THEY NEVER JOINED. YOU MAY HAVE TO BE HOSPITALIZED WITH ECMC BUT THERE ARE OTHER ORGANZAYIONS THAT OPERATE WAY BETTER FOR OUTPATIENT CARE. THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION AND ADDED FRUSTRATIONS THIS PLACE WILL PUT ON YOU TRYING TO GET LETTERS OR RECORDS IS ABSOLUTELY UNCALLED FOR. THE SYSTEM HERE IS HORRIBLE AND THEIR LACK OF ABILITY TURNS INTO A PROBLEM FOR THE COMMUNITIES SAFETY AND AN UNNECESSARY BURDEN TO LAW ENFORCEMENT. THEY FAIL TO RECOGNIZE PSYCHOSIS AND AFTER 20 YRS THE RESULTS OF THEIR CARE ARE SEEN IN THE HOMELESS IN WNY WHO NEEDED CASE MANAGEMENT THEY NEVER RECEIVED. LEARN HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH EACHOTHER AND TRULY RECOGNIZE THE NEEDS OF YOUR PATIENTS. MOST OF THE HOMELESS AROUND THAT AREA ARE ALSO THEIR PATIENTS OR WERE ORIGINALLY. JUST GO ACROSS THE STREET AT SAINT VINCENT DEPAUL LUNCH AND OFFER THEM $1 TO TELL THEIR STORY LIKE I HAVE. SAD PLACE”
