How likely are you to recommend Dr Yana Bekker Psychiatry PLLC?
What patients say on Google
“I did not see the doctor. I was not a patient here. This review is based on an encounter with admin. I called to set up an appointment because I wanted a second opinion on a diagnosis and prescription. The admin staff who answered my call let me know that if I was willing to wait, an appointment would be available about a month away. I accepted. I was then asked my health history and disclosed my prior diagnoses and previously prescribed medication. I was told by admin that because of my diagnosis and because I was prescribed benzodiazepines before, I actually COULD NOT be taken as a patient."Dr Yana Bekker has a strict 'no benzodiazepine' rule", I was told. "If you took it and it provided you relief, she just wouldn't be able to prescribe that medication". I explained that I do not necessarily want to be on the medication, it is a new prescription, it was prescribed "as needed" for short term, I have not had any refills, it is a short term prescription and I want to see someone else for a second opinion. I was told yea sorry, we're not a good fit. For me, this was a confusing, upsetting conversation and I don't know how normal it is because this is all new for me. I had to turn to google to form a theory about my diagnosis and rx that would make a clinician unwilling to do intake with me. I know everyone does not know how difficult it can be for one to coordinate your own care in NYC when you are not feeling well, but I did expect a different, more compassionate approach from admin at a psychiatric practice.”
“Love Dr Bekker but save yourself the headache — her office front desk person (Eugene) is difficult to work with. There’s no way to actively contact the doctor without going through him and he’ll block access even when you’d like to check in with the doctor directly on a situation. I’m sure he’s just being a tone deaf enforcer of office policies but it’s customer service 101 to let me speak with the boss if I’m asking to speak to the boss? Can’t believe I’m resorting to writing this.”
“I’ve been very happy with Dr Bekker. She has helped me in many ways. What I like best about her is she listens to me and trusts my judgement. It really feels like we are working together to find the right path for me. Highly recommend her.”
“My best experience with a psychiatrist to date. Dr Bekker is extremely compassionate and she helped me find the right balance of medication that works for me and my current hectic life. She is here for you and to improve your life!”
