Dr. Sambunaris & Associates - Psychiatry & Ketamine

“Full disclosure: I haven’t been to this particular office . HOWEVER, I saw Dr. Sambunaris and his team years ago (late 1990’s?) for an anti-depressant drug trial. It was done with a double-blind placebo and I never knew whether I was receiving “the real thing” or not. However, over the weeks of going in and meeting with him and his team, I came to greatly respect the care and thoughtful approach that I could see came from the direction of Dr. Sambunaris. He and his team were always ready to stop the trial for a patient, should they start experiencing any negative side effects. I suppose that’s normal for drug trials, but I felt so very cared for. In all my years since then of trying therapy here and there, I’ve never experienced an office team and /or Psych doctor that was that…I dunno…warm; loving; that made you feel like it’s gonna be ok. (I know what you’re probably thinking: I haven’t found the right therapist and I need to just head to Dr. S’s office! You’re right!) At the end of the trial, during the exit interview, Dr. S. asked if I thought I was on an antidepressant (I did think so), and queried me on my thoughts. He then explained the link between depression and anxiety (who knew? I’m not even sure “Google” was born yet!). That info has been THE most helpful to me over the years - more-so than possibly ANY mental health information: That my depression wasn’t the crux of the problem; my ANXIETY was (is). I’m so grateful to Dr. Angelo Sambunaris for giving me that tidbit of knowledge so that I could learn how to better take care of myself. Hopefully, I’ll be in there soon…”
