How likely are you to recommend Dr. Ruben Mendoza?
What patients say on Google
“Dr. Mendoza saw my 2 sons when we first moved to Amarillo. It was a horrible experience. The front desk staff were rude, impatient, and truthfully incompetent. Dr. Mendoza himself is a horror to work with. He will put your children on medication meant for adults and then not monitor them. He won't listen to your concerns as a parent. When I called his office to complain that the medicines he had put my son on for ADD and for anxiety were basically making him into a zombie, I was told to give it another month "to kick in". My son was already missing school because he couldn't function! I quickly found a better doctor for my boys. This was 10 years ago and I am discouraged to see that Dr. Mendoza is still a lousy doctor. Think twice before choosing him.”
“My daughter has been seeing Dr. Mendoza for 3 years. He has been AMAZING with her necessary medications and adjustments when symptoms change. We have never had a problem with making emergency appointments and he has monitored her very closely while restabilizing with any medication changes. He listens to what we both have to say and pays attention to the details. We have had two instances of severely negative side effects with the medication he prescribed for her specific needs. I was able to contact the office and immediately get my daughter seen and reevaluated. My daughter's needs have always been his priority, even in the time of crisis. My daughter has seen several different psychiatrists and even she prefers Dr. Mendoza over all the others.”
“My son saw Dr Mendoza today, and we had a terrific experience! Dr. Mendoza spoke with my son as well as me, and paid attention to what both of us had to say. I could tell he really seemed to care about my son. I would recommend him! Especially if you know your child’s condition, and realize that the medication does make a difference. I’ve seen my child with and without meds, we’ve tried all the natural remedies, and medication works for us! I am looking forward to our next appointment with Dr. Mendoza!”
“In 2013 both of my kids were referred to Dr V and we had a horrible experience with the rude office staff and Dr V. We ended up switching care over to our family physician. In late 2023 my youngest started seeing Dr Mendoza over at TPC. The staff there is way way way better. And we love Dr Mendoza. He listens and every time he makes an adjustment in meds he nails it. We will be leaving TPC within the next 6 months or so and if it weren’t for our staff experience 11 years ago we would continue to see him over at his Care Circle office. However - I will not step foot back in that office again so once we get meds situated we will go back to our family physician for management or use telehealth psychiatric services like Bright Side. He is very specific to psychiatry medicine management. If you need counseling - see a counselor. He doesn’t do that. If you need testing, see a psychologist. Psychiatrists are MD’s and they manage meds. That’s what they do. If you don’t want a “pill pusher” don’t see a psychiatrist 🤷🏻♀️. However, there are some instances where meds are needed. And when that happens, I think Dr Mendoza really is the only option in Amarillo. (Dr V certainly isn’t!)”
