How likely are you to recommend Dr. Roy J. Mathew, MD?
“When I met Dr. Mathew for the first time I was really impressed by his compassion for others and his humbleness. He doesn't double book his appointments, which proves his commitment to every patient. He really cares. Dr. Mathew is easily the wisest man I've ever known. He's given me advice on so many instances and it's always refreshing. As for the office, it's always immaculate and comfortable. The staff is always nice and very professional. Great job!”
“Dr Matthew's has enabled me to make a positive as well as huge change in my life. I have never waited more than 5 minutes for my appointment and if I need to speak with him between appointments I will receive a call within the hour. Gladys is his office staff and she too is professional and will try to accommodate any change I throw her way. She does this with a smile and I always look forward to talking to her. She makes me feel okay with any request I have. Thank you to you both.”
“Dr. Mathew is very knowledgeable, kind & compassionate. He actually spends quite a lot of time making sure I understand exactly what is going on and the reason behind any changes that are needed. He ensures all my questions are answered thoroughly & actively listens to all of my concerns. He goes above & beyond & you just can’t find that in many people these days. I appreciate the time he spends with me & the care & concern he gives me & I would highly recommend him if you have any mental health challenges.”
“He’s very knowledgeable and kind. Unfortunately I couldn’t resonate with his advice and I felt dissatisfied during my sessions with him. I was interrupted whenever I would share my problems multiple times and I want to make it clear that his feedback was not helpful. I’m not saying that I didn’t like what I heard, but I disagreed on coming to conclusions of the way things are with my life because of things I can’t control. I don’t want to have a victim mentality and he was listing reasons of my struggles based on things I cannot control, such as my identity and how I’m perceived in West Texas. I understand prejudice exists but I don’t want to be the reason why I’m having a rough time because then we will never reach a solution. I also felt judged on my journey based on my beliefs and hobbies I shared with him on. Finally, I also didn’t think I was taken seriously because he has patients in dire situations and my problems don’t stack up to homicidal or suicidal cases that he has with other patients. He means well but he discouraged me from pursuing psychiatric treatment, including his secretary. My last appointment with him he only gave me a very small fraction of the time I am supposed to have with him and she defended his actions. For lack of a better word I felt ripped off.”
