What patients say on Google
“My son has seen Dr. Sales for 13 years now. While his staff leaves a lot to be desired, we have never felt rushed or belittled. We’ve always been able to share our questions and concerns openly and know that we will get a knowledgeable, direct response. One time (in all of our 13 years) there was an issue with a physical prescription getting to us. When we realized my son would be without his medication due to this issue, Dr. Sales literally drove to our house after work hours that same day to deliver the prescription. We credit Dr. Sales for not only getting us through this past decade, but also for bringing our son back from the extreme depths of mental illness. We will not see another psychiatrist until Dr. Sales retires and we’re forced to.”
“Dr Sales is amazing to work with, he takes time and listens to any concerns I have. He is very kind and even jokes with me at times. The staff quickly answer calls and questions. Medication refills are quick to call in and arrive same day to my pharmacy. It has been a great experience working with Dr. Sales and his team for several years now.”
“Dr. Sales first words to me after I sat down were “so you’re bipolar”. I kinda mean mugged him and said “what? No! I’ve never been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, nor is it in question, I’m not Bipolar. I’ve seen multiple other psychiatrists and been in mental hospitals and nobody has ever given me that diagnosis nor thought it was even a possibility. He said that the fact that I took lithium alone meant that I was bipolar. And I had to explain to him that Lithium is also used for other things like suicidality, and mood stabilization for ASD patients like myself which is exactly why the last doctor who had retired had me on those. From there on he wanted to let his opinions dictate his practice, stating those opinions which were demonstrably false. And quite he frankly spend just as much time talking about how long he’s been in practice for 26 years and how he’s ready for retirement, so what he says goes. All the while his experience means nothing to me, especially in medical science when there’s new knowledge you weren’t taught 25 years ago, he proceeded to kick me out after 10 minutes of a 45 minute session after I continued to advocate for myself while he’s trying to explain and draw a diagram about Bipolar Disorder speaking very condescendingly, I told him I don’t need an elementary explanation as I’ve hyper fixated on mental health throughout my journey, and have even studied these illnesses at a college level, I know Bipolar Disorder, and its victims and that’s 1000% not me. After more discussions with providers and other patients in my area, it has become clear that Dr. Sales is simply behind in his education and falls short of treating people with proper respect. He seems to want to apply that Bipolar Diagnosis on everyone he can, keep in mind he could miss on diagnosis and still coincidentally put you on a med that works. Otherwise he really only seems to be any good if you have a clear and solid diagnosis, and are already on good medications so he can just keep refilling them.”
“I had only one appointment with this doctor that I waited 40 minutes for (after my appointment time) and he only seen me for 10 minutes and just agreed with everything that my previous doctor had diagnosed me with. He started me on medication (which thank god it worked with the 10 minutes he spoke with me), but when I went in for my second appointment I waited another 45 minutes to be seen (I had another appointment after) so I ended up having to reschedule again to which I got a call they had made a scheduling error so I would have to reschedule AGAIN. At that point I filled out a request to see someone else and I’ve now been waiting over a month. I go to the same place for therapy so I asked the front desk staff and she told me it’s still in the process so I’d have to see him again to refill my prescription (after he decided to completely TAKE IT OFF MY MEDICATION LIST). I went in about 15 mins late (I do live in Davenport and had to go across the bridge during 3:00 traffic) and he decided he couldn’t see me at that time. So I never got it refilled, I tried calling the nurses like the front staff directed me 12 minutes to close and they declined my calls multiple times even though I run out of my medication tomorrow. Very unprofessional especially dealing with mentally ill patients. My therapist is amazing but him and some of his staff are absolutely horrible at their job and way too arrogant to be in this type of healthcare.”
