What patients say on Google

“I have genuinely never seen a worse doctor. He talked to me for about 2 minutes and determined I had bipolar because I said I am an emotional person. He did not listen to me when I explained that I have never experienced any type of mania. He then said that is only “textbook” bipolar and people with bipolar don’t usually experience manic symptoms, which I KNOW to be untrue. He had terrible bedside manner, jumped to conclusions about my mental health after about 2 minutes of talking, and refused to listen to me when I tried to explain that I was seeing him for anxiety and possible ADHD. NOT bipolar or even symptoms anything like bipolar. This was a terrible experience and I left feeling incredibly angry and gaslit. I do not recommend ever seeing this man, and I am honestly shocked that he has his license still.”

“Should not be allowed anywhere near another human being, let alone in charge of one's mental health and medication. Went in for a refill of my mood stabilizer that I have been taking for 8 years, he goes through the typical questions, and when he asks if I'm feeling depressed I say yes, something big has happened and then he instantly cut me off and smugly told me that I hadn't been taking my medication and asked why I even came in. I was very confused, of course, because obviously I have been taking my mood stabilizers. He heavily implied he didn't believe me, since he hadn't documented giving a refill to me since last year, which cannot be true, seeing as I literally still have pills, and told me that I was putting him in a difficult position. I asked if he wanted me to bring in my bottle to show him I have medication and he said no. He refused to refill my medication, saying that it would be a liability issue because I'm not mentally stable, so if something happens, he didn't want to get in trouble because I "stopped taking it" and he could be blamed for putting me back on it at a high dose. So his solution was to reduce me from 200mg to 25mg and have me meet him again in a month to slowly increase the dosage as if I had never taken this medication. When I asked him if there would be side effects, he shrugged it off and said there was nothing he could do. My closest friend died and now he's effectively cut off my access to my mood stabilizers I've been taking for ages. How is *that* not the liability issue here? Now I will have to go at least a week quitting them cold turkey while I wait to meet with a new psychiatrist. I believe what happened is my pharmacy sent a refill request and had it approved for another three months, guess they didn't document it on their end, though. Still had to pay for that appointment just so I could get reprimanded for a clerical error he made and be refused my mood stabilizers. Dr Su is everything wrong with mental health support here.”

“Before even meeting me Dr. Su prescribed me Oxycarbazepine 300mg 2x day. One of the nurses informed me he prescribes this often and to almost every patient. I chose to deny the medication and to meet and speak with him first. When I questioned his use of the medication as well as prescribing something before even meeting me, he began to get loud with me. I again chose to deny the medication. He then tried to prescribe abilify 5mg 1x day, hydroxyzine 25mg 3x day, trazodone 50mg 1x day on top of that. I let him know kindly that while in his care, I would not be taking the prescribed medications. I would choose a different Dr. outside of this practice. He lied in notes stating untrue facts. Called me an alcoholic with no prior or current drug or alcohol issues. He discredits ADHD as well and says nobody should be prescribed medication for it. He was rude, arrogant and just downright unpleasant to work with during my voluntary stay. He spends less than 5 minutes with each patient each day and is somehow allowed to continue prescribing in this way. Very hands off, voice on. Little man syndrome diagnosis present. I would avoid at all costs any interaction with this "Doctor" if you take your mental health seriously.”

“Awful doctor. labeled me as bipolar after only talking to me for about 2 minutes a day for 7 days while i was at OSF. prescribed me abilify at 500mg as a STARTING dose. lied about this medication being in my mychart when i never took it before. it seems he thinks all women are bipolar, which just isn’t true. not sure where he got his degree from. all in all you can tell he really hates his life and i truly think he’s in it for the money as he wears designer belts all the time and has no emotion, ever. wasted college degree, awful person, and his parents have to be disappointed in how he turned out to treat other humans.”
