How likely are you to recommend Dr. Deborah R. Simkin, MD?
What patients say on Google
“There should be a high degree of trust between a patient and their doctor. And I wouldn't trust Dr. Simkin... she put me on a few experimental supplements after hearing that they MIGHT be effective. She convinced me to stay on a med I was having mixed feelings about, as she deemed the pros to be greater than the cons. And she almost locked me up for mentioning suicidal thoughts, despite having no intention to act on them (that's a no-no, because it teaches the patient to hide things from their doctor). She's very reactive to what you tell her, but that doesn't mean she genuinely listens. So unless she's changed in the past few years, I'd recommend finding someone else.”
“We love Dr. Simkin. She saved our son's life. I think it's going on four years since we met with the doctor. Our son having had issues four years prior to us meeting her had a catastrophic seizure event that hospitalized him for almost a week. Thank you doctor for stepping in and helping all these other doctors see the light. She was able to run test and recommend the proper prescription that has helped our son not have seizures for 4 years now. Yes she continues to help us with other things and i recommend her to anyone.”
“Dr. Simkin is simply an amazing professional who knows her field. She wants to know and hear every detail of whatever issue you're seeing her for. She listens. She wants to diagnose correctly and works tirelessly eliminating other possible factors. She regularly attends seminars to stay on top of her game. Her wait time can be somewhat of an issue, but she's the best in her field. She's worth the wait.”
“Rude staff with no regard for the difficulties of the types of patients they are hoping to serve. Inflexible scheduling for first-time patients makes this office an unnecessarily difficult process for anyone dealing with sleep-related issues, as your first session can only be set in the morning. I myself have just dealt with the repercussions of this as I was unable to wake up early enough to make my initial appointment, and when I tried to call no one answered. When her office finally called me back, it was not to inquire my situation but rather to personally berate me and inform me that I had 'ruined their morning' even as I was going through an panic attack brought on by the fact that I missed an appointment that I desperately needed in order to receive treatment I've been searching for in the area for over a year and a half now, even as my life has been steadily degrading due to my conditions. Perhaps Dr. Simkins could have helped me, and my life would be on a better path, but I'll never know because even though when I desperately tried to call to explain my situation my call went straight to voicemail, and the first response I heard was "You have ruined OUR morning." To Dr. Simkins receptionist specifically: You are dealing with people in various forms of distress. Learn to have the barest shred of empathy. In summation: Inflexible, Unreliable phone system with no E-mail to back it up, and a callous front desk with an obvious lack of understanding of her clientele. I have never in my life had so much difficulty dealing with a psychiatrist's office or treated so rudely by one. Avoid at all costs.”
