“I have been with Novus for at least 3 years if not a little longer. I was referred to Dr. Kahn and every time my appointment wd roll around, something wd always come up. Either sick, had some emergency dental surgery, then he had to reschedule and wasn’t going to be in the office. I have worked for some really compassionate, caring and professional psychiatrists when I lived in Huntsville about 10 years ago. I asked the receptionist if I didn’t have to fill out any intake paper, new pt forms and she said no and when I asked questions about she cut me off and basically said.. see you at your appointment. I really believe now it was just Gods intervention that I never made it to that appointment. Novus is only after your $$$. He’s running that business like a fine oiled money machine. There turnover rate was troubling to me with the support staff and that a big red flag. J Simpson was great, his wife working there is a joke. RUDE is an understatement! It got to be just ridiculous how quickly I was in and out of there. Another 🚩 here’s the cherry on top! Dr P told me from an MRI on my brain that I had a blood clot or scarring from a concussion. Side note: Presley was pushing for me to do the TMS five days a week and when I explained I wasn’t interested in doing this at the time. I felt then he lost interest in my case ($$) they couldn’t bill my insurance or paying out of pocket My cognitive decline was off the charts and of course my GP blamed it on menopause and wdnt you know it he was invested financially with the business that did HRT pellets. By the way those are great when someone who actually takes a look at your hormones and your total well being. I was referred to a neurosurgeon in Tuscaloosa because I was told “my neck was jacked up’” when the neurosurgeon looked at the films and compared them to my previous in 22 and the most recent in 4/25. He asked me if I was sure they sent me for my neck and not this abnormality in my brain. I said no, I was positive because I was already dreading having surgery on my neck. He asked why in the world I wasn’t sent to him in 22. That he wouldn’t even address my neck until we got to the bottom of the MRI on my brain. He just kept looking at my films and shaking his head. He called another Neurosurgeon at UAB and they got me in the next week for an examination which I obviously failed miserably. So now I’m being sent over to a Neuro oncologist at UAB more MRIs and physical examination and cognitive test. I have a brain tumor. If I had followed Novus plans who knows how much longer I wd have went without a correct diagnosis. I’m doing MRI’s every three months at UAB. Just the difference in them genuinely being concerned and educated about my whole wellbeing was incredible. Thankfully, it isn’t growing per my last couple of visits. To realize Novus was clueless about what was really going on with me is unacceptable. There’s more, but I think you get the point. I’m so thankful to the neurosurgeon in Tuscaloosa that had the knowledge that to send me to UAB. I’m sorry to say Novus is only interested in making money. They need to put up a flag pole in front of their office with a big red flag 🚩🚩🚩”

“If I COULD ISSUE ZERO STARS I WOULD! This human first words he wanted to start off with were "you're on X scheduled meds" and I told him "and not a single one is by choice, and they were all ones maintained for 10+ years!" He had no intention of listening to what I had recently been dealing with, if he would have taken a bit more time to listen to my issues and what I was going through, he might have understood and showed some grace and humility. I could see quickly he COULD CARE LESS about my issues. If you have anything scheduled/controlled, might as well skip this one, because he offered me nothing, and after 42 years of doctor appointments, this is the only one I WALKED OUT OF. In my personal opinion, the Alabama Board need to reexamine his credentials.”

“This post is about his nurse practitioner Kim Veile. My daughter had an appointment with her that lasted all of 5 minutes. She didn’t engage with her at all. She didn’t even realize this was her first office appointment. She had never seen her prior to this appointment and she’s a major failure to the profession as a nurse practitioner. I’d like to believe that nurses are more compassionate about their patients because I have been an ER nurse for 18 years. I do not divulge this information on purpose when I’m at an appointment just to see how a person would be treated with NO medical knowledge. I’m very disappointed. I was present for the appointment and very discouraged in any future appointments. Looking for a new doctor/np now She also started her off with a higher dose of anxiety med at 25 mg instead of 10 mg and working her way up 🤦”

“This is my personal experience and my opinion. I go to novus neurology and love them! They said they are trying to focus more on neuro patients instead of psych patients. They sent me to the second floor where Dr. Khan is located. This was all kind of thrown on me but I was having issues with my meds and the guy at novus I went to see because my nurse practitioner I was seeing has gotten a new job and only works at novus one day a week now. The new guy sent me to Dr. Khan and told me to keep taking the meds I was having issues with until I could see him. It took almost a month to get in to see him. One I got in I was in his office for a total of ten minutes but I’ll be nice and say 15. Within the first 60 seconds he asked what medicine I was on and asked if I tried trintellex, I said yes that it didn’t work for me. He asked about another one and told me to try it and at this point he ask what he was treating me for. I had not told him my diagnosis’ yet. He proceeded to ask me childhood questions and health condition questions and would cut me off in the middle of me answering. He didn’t let me tell him that the neurologist had done genetics testing on me to see what medicines would work best and that they were all in the yellow and red category that none were in the green. He told me that the issues I was having was just a part of my personality and that I also struggle from issues with my mom and not getting along with her. I have struggled since I was a kid and some of it is genetic and some of it is things I’ve been through. I have a good mom and we may butt heads but that is not my issue in the least. He undiagnosed what a Dr. had taken time to figure out and diagnose. I struggle a lot in life and have legitimate issues but I’ve never let that stop me but this was appalling to be treated like I’m just a hysterical woman or that I’m a spoiled brat who didn’t get the pony she wanted when she was little so now she pouts and can’t handle life. When he went to type all of this on his computer I rushed to try to get a word in and tell him some issues I was having. I stopped talking waiting for a response but he continued to type and the response never came. He finished look up from his screen and said okay I want to see you back in two months and walked me to the front desk to get rescheduled. I called the nurse and told her my experience, I told her that I didn’t even get to tell him that one medicine I had previously tried caused seizures, or that I had an allergic reaction to another or that other ones made me even worse. I told her I was worried for the other patients and that I recommend people to them but that I would no longer be doing that because I left there worse off then when I went in. My grandmother is a nurse and she was appalled by this behavior. She has met the novus neurology team and absolutely loved them because they took such good care of their patients. I had never felt so taken care of before by a Dr. and staff but I truly felt like they cared. I asked to see Dr. prestley or the nurse practitioner I had been seeing on the one day a week she comes in. Or at least to get a referral to someone that would listen and help me. She said Dr. Khan has a lot of patients that his appointments do normally go quickly. She did not seem concerned in the least. She said she’d call me back. I waited for a week and a half because she said it could take a few days. I called back today and she said she left a message on patient portal, the recommendation? Find someone in Birmingham. Didn’t give a name or anything just find someone in Birmingham. She said she remembered talking to me the first time and that she would not sit there and listen to someone talk badly about a part of their staff. I told her I was not speaking badly but speaking fact and that I have always loved everyone at Novus but that the lack of care that man had is concerning. Within 10 minutes I was ignored, cut off, undiagnosed, told I have mommy issues, and given medicine before he even asked me what he was treating.”
