How likely are you to recommend Downtown Counseling Center?
What patients say on Google
“If you are a parent with disabilities. They might say you can't be a parent. A parent with mental health issues. Is a parent whose kid can't succeed. That is what this place stands for.”
“I have only had outstanding experiences with them. Their staff is thoughtful, considerate and accommodating. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area who thinks they might benefit from therapy or counseling for any reason.”
“Not happy at all with the treatment there. Was first told my 9 year old couldn’t possibly have ptsd because it’s something only military get (I have it and was never military) then proceeded to read the dsm5 book to my 9 year old pelting them with questions of past trauma and invaliding their past experiences. Also did not want to follow how we wanted our child treated due and wanted it to be exactly how the therapist wanted things to be done so was dropped from the practice. Seriously awful and insensitive. Also, I’m not sure how they haven’t been fined or shut down their rooms are not soundproof and you can hear conversations from the waiting room. Save yourself a trip and go somewhere else please.”
“I have been struggling with chronic pain since 2008 and I could never get beyond simply coping. My husband aptly described me as living between being alive and dead like a living ghost. I thought I tried everything until I met Cynthia Bartok! Firstly, she did her dissertation in chronic pain! Her approach guides you with workbooks so you can learn not only the science behind chronic pain but the how to guide to teach yourself to process pain and your emotions again. I didn't realize just how unsafe I truly felt when you don't even have your body to trust and depend on anymore. Cynthia helps you find your inner strength, wisdom and power again! If you are sick and tired of being in pain without end, chances are you are a stuffer and represser of everything negative to a place so deep down inside of you you can't even connect with it anymore. What I've learned is that what you don't process and release gets stuck in your body. It has to go somewhere. I never knew how to address how overwhelmed I was. I never could get traction for positive change... until I met Cynthia. I struggle with God every day but I have zero doubt that God gave me Cynthia as a peace offering to me and to show me how to never give up on myself again! Thank you, Cynthia for being you!”
