What patients say on Google

“As an individual who has been a patient of Dr. Nelson Handal for several years, I can profess with full certainty that Dr. Handal does a stupendous job. As a child, I distinctively remember being driven over four hours to my first appointment, then to each respective appointment, and finally to the present, where I currently drive myself over four hours. In adulthood, I am extensively more content and happier within myself than I ever was as a child, and being under the care of Dr. Handal made that possible. Because of the unwavering professionalism and kindness of Dr. Handal and his staff, I am living the life that I had always dreamt of but thought never to be possible, which never ceases to amaze me. By listening, asking questions, having empathy, and prescribing medications, Dr. Handal saved my life. I will forever be grateful for the treatments I’ve received and am actively receiving at Dothan Behavioral Medicine Clinic. Thank y’all!!”

“Dr. Handle seemed to get easily frustrated when asked questions he didn’t have the answers to, and would resort to blanket statements and fear tactics. For example, when I asked what long term effects the medication our child was on could pose in the future, his answer was “I can tell you all the things that will happen if he doesn’t take it.” Or, “I’m the doctor because of what I know and my experience, you have your job because of what you know.” He would also say things like “every child is different, and will react differently to the medication” but used other children’s experiences as examples in the same breath. When working with children it’s the doctors responsibility to make the parents feel comfortable and answer any questions they may have to help gain a better understanding. Dr Handle failed us in that aspect.”

“Dr Handal really cares about his patients. He takes the time to truly listen and he's also super friendly, making it easy to feel comfortable in front of him. He has this really unique and amazing intake assessment that really picks up on so many issues going on that most practitioners would completely miss. That assessment is gold! I think it's truly an asset when your child fills out that assessment in confidence because you was a parent might be shocked at what your child is experiencing that you had no clue about! Once Dr Handal is able to see the scope of the problem, he truly is able to address it with good solutions.”

“Temeeka Buggs doesn’t care for her patients or their wellbeing. Left me without medication while she went on vacation, leaving someone who relies on meds without any for 4+ days is crazy. She then ended my session early once I denied a single medication for myself. She never listens and never seemed to actually care. She’s extremely unprofessional. Heard more about her personal life than about her trying to help me. She cut my medication entirely & ditched me as a patient with 0 headway on where to go next. I asked for a referral and never got it.”
