“Do not schedule cardiology appointments with Dr. Michael Broker-- especially if you are a pregnant woman. I met him for the first time while 22 weeks pregnant with twins to help co-manage blood pressure with my OB and he immediately began shaming me about my weight saying I am 100 lbs overweight, despite being in my second trimester with twins and having gained only a little more than what is recommended by twin/multiples specialists. He continued telling me I need to take Ozempic when I have my children and focus on weight loss as soon as they are born, telling me I want to "be able to play with my kids" insinuating I have mobility issues (I don't. I also teach yoga and although I am not the fittest, I can move my body any way I need to and have no problems). The focus of my appointment was for blood pressure management right now, not to discuss what I will do after my children are born and done breastfeeding more than a year from now (as glp-1s are not safe during this time). He lectured me about how to take my blood pressure and the dangers of being fat even though I go to the doctor multiple times a month for my high risk pregnancy with twins and have been monitoring my blood pressure for quite some time, including extensively before becoming pregnant. My doctor the day before took my weight and made no comments. Every time I tried to tell him something he cut me off. He was surprised a regular BP cuff fit around my arm and looked at me like I was just a disgusting fat slob. It was dehumanizing and made me feel horrible about myself. It was clear he had his idea of what he wanted to say and did not care about my input. This included denying that blood pressure problems are hereditary, and that my early elevated blood pressure at 27 years old was due to that and not being overweight. I have had high blood pressure when I was not overweight. My father was first diagnosed with high blood pressure at 19 with a completely normal weight. To make matters worse, he said in my notes I had a history of a "nearly 45" BMI which is grossly exaggerated; it was never more than 35 before becoming pregnant. If he is referring to my pregnancy weight, not be considered "history" since it is only very recent (40 BMI-still incorrect), that shouldn't even be a number calculated to discuss weight loss as I am growing two children and need to feed them so they are born healthy. He also recorded my weight with all my clothes boots and a maternity belt and calculated I had gained 30 lbs so far this pregnancy despite it being only 23 lbs as recorded by my OB the day before when I was weighed in her office. (At my starting BMI it is recommeded to gain 1 lb per week with twins and that is right on track with almost 23 weeks). Regardless of the details he made a huge error and shamed me for it, making wildly presumptuous assumptions about me with no consideration for my current state as a pregnant woman, my mental health, or my well-being as a whole. After being spoken to as if a mid-pregnancy woman needs to have a harsh reality check from a stranger who has no context about her life, I left the office and cried so much that when I got home my husband thought I lost my babies. The only possible explanation for my experience is that Dr. Broker is an unreasonably arrogant practitioner who has not: yet been put in his place by someone who can get a word in edgewise between his med school regurgitations; experienced the wide variety of human conditions a doctor could be presented with at varying levels of health; and/or had experience working with women. He should not be working with women, especially not while they are in a pregnant state, and should not be working with vulnerable patients at all. Doctors are supposed to be helpful, respectful, and take efforts to be warm-- especially upon meeting new patients-- not arrogant and callous. I have no idea how he got hired and hope he does not offend or humiliate anyone else although with the confidence he has, I feel I can't be the only one to have had an experience like this.”
“I went to this location to get blood work for the first time ever. I was very nervous since I didn’t know what to expect and it’s something I’ve never done. Tracey was the woman who did my bloodwork and she was so insanely helpful. She made me feel at ease from the second I walked in the door until I left. She was extremely accommodating and walked me through the process and made me feel so much more comfortable. She allowed for me to have such a comforting and easy experience. Thank you so much Tracey, you deserve the world!”
“The nurses and front desk staff have always been kind, professional, and welcoming, and I truly appreciate the care and respect they've shown my mom during every visit. Unfortunately, our experience with Dr. Ken Lin has been very different. At nearly every appointment, we have waited close to two hours past our scheduled time before being seen, only for the visit itself to last about 15-20 minutes. After this happened repeatedly, we respectfully brought up the long wait times, not to criticize the care of other patients, but simply to express how difficult the delays have been. Rather than acknowledging our concern, Dr. Lin responded by saying that he has patients who are sicker than my mom and that we should be happy she isn't as sick because those patients need more of his time. While I absolutely understand that medical emergencies happen and that some patients require additional attention, his response felt dismissive and invalidating. It came across as though our concerns about the repeated delays didn't matter, rather than offering any empathy or acknowledging that our time also has value. We weren't asking him to spend less time with other patients, we were simply hoping for understanding, accountability, or even a brief apology for the consistent delays. Instead, we left feeling unheard and discouraged. I appreciate the office staff and nursing team, but because of this interaction and the ongoing pattern of excessive wait times, our experience with Dr. Ken Lin was disappointing.”
“I scheduled an appointment for Crystal Run Healthcare in Monroe for my husband over the phone today. I secured an appointment for 4:15 pm with Dr Yuen. When we arrived they did not have any information regarding the appointment. They refused to ask the Doctor, any doctor to see him. They suggested we go to their facility in Newburgh or Middletown. I found this to be unprofessional and truly difficult to comprehend. Instead we went to a very welcoming urgent care in the Chester Mall. This facility has a 2.9 rating for a reason. I’ll chalk it up to good fortune that we only made it through the door and did not see a doctor.”
