“My experience with this doctor and this facility was at first great and then turned poor. Initially I saw someone prior to Cozzens. I was dealing with severe PTSD, trauma and anxiety and depression. The provider I was seeing left abruptly and I was told Cozzens would be seeing me. The appt was made I walked in and he absolutely looked at me and looked at what I was taking and said “well I won’t be giving you that so that’s not happening” and stared at me with what I can only describe as a blank expression. Didn't ask me a damn thing about why I was on the meds I was on. Just informed me that he doesn’t believe in pretty much anything other than the standard antidepressant combo etc. Let me tell you something I left that office scared for my own personal mental health knowing I was seeing somebody who didn’t care about me or what I was going through. I immediately started looking for better care. It took a good while to find a decent trauma specialist but I finally found one. If you have any kind of childhood or adult onset trauma or severe anxiety etc this doctor doesn’t and won’t give you anything to help manage the crippling anxiety. And if he does it’s bare minimum. I’m not addicted to anxiety meds but I do require them to live. I have severe abuse issues that I have survived from childhood and unfortunately was raised in a traumatic and toxic environment. Panic and anxiety are a long standing part of my life. With a good psychiatrist and therapist I have been able to live a decent life and make it to 51 despite periods of suicide ideation and bouts of severe depression and anxiety. These are things I have to live WITH and this doctor for me didn’t CARE and that’s something I will personally never ever FORGET or FORGIVE. That kind of irresponsible behavior could send someone over the edge and god forbid make them do something awful. I’ve never had a psych doctor dismiss me the way he did. It was awful. I felt alone. I felt uncared for and I was. So I left, and if he ever reads this I hope he knows that his poor clinical behavior resulted in my mental health decline. And yes it was due to his lack of care and concern for me simply because he himself doesn’t believe in certain medications, and oh how simple that is for a man who has never had to live through what I as a little girl and adult woman did.”
